Put me in as F5 for the July dates. Still have some logistics to figure out, but it would be good to play a convention game with y'all again.

I need Chuck, Ryan, and FEAR to give us a go/no-go on July 15-24 ASAP.
By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Monday, January 24, 2022 - 08:04 am: Edit |
I'm good.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, January 24, 2022 - 10:35 am: Edit |
If Ryan shows up I may offer him a job and when he passes, we’ll, I have handcuffs. Nobody else can do what he can.

I can only give a 40% commitment at this point due to financial costs. Spending over $100 per day on lodging plus $35 per day on meals, then spending $500 on air transport over eight days totaling over $1500 is a lot on a fixed income.
If we could reduce the lodging by renting an AirBnB house, then this becomes more financially palatable.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, January 24, 2022 - 06:53 pm: Edit |
In the facility I have found, you would have the ability to run crock pots and a microwave.

There is an AirBNB that is $133 per night from 7/15-7/24 and fits 6 guests comfortably (says up to 9).
3 bedrooms
5 beds
2.5 baths
That is $1,560.20 with fees & taxes.
Divided by 6 is just over $260 for lodging the entire time.
I can reserve it. (Free cancellation until 7/14)
I don't know where the Venue is but this place is a 6 min drive from the ADB office.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, January 24, 2022 - 08:26 pm: Edit |
Can you get me an address?
The venue is a few minutes northeast of ADB. 570 cliffside, J&J Ranch
By Lawrence Bergen (Lar) on Monday, January 24, 2022 - 08:53 pm: Edit |
Sort of...The above mentioned place is in the area of SW 34th and S Washington. Straight south of ADB.
EDIT: According to Google its a 20 Min total drive from this place to the venue. (Not accounting for Ryan's breakfast Sandwich stop...which btw was faster once he started using the app )

There are several others around town that are bigger and have more rooms for more people. Example: A house that is similar to Jean's (not as nice, housing up to 12 with 7BRs) for about $2200 inclusive. (That is 10 at $220 each for lodging.)

OOOooohhh,that sounds like a plan.
By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Monday, January 24, 2022 - 10:03 pm: Edit |
Well if the hotel we were at had a better breakfast selection we wouldn't have to stop.
Now we'll have our own breakfast spot. Not sure anyone wants to cook for the whole group.
By Lawrence Bergen (Lar) on Monday, January 24, 2022 - 10:21 pm: Edit |
HAH I was kidding you. I am also not above whipping up some flap jacks or some eggs for you eggheads LOL
I basically cook with gluten, dairy, meat when available, sorry for the allergic/organic folk but that's how I was raised. I am not afraid of veggies but not many make it to the breakfast table unless they go in an omelet (under the cheese).
Give the word or lets have a planning session.
By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Monday, January 24, 2022 - 10:48 pm: Edit |
I'm in.
What about Chuck and Mike?
By Chuck Strong (Raider) on Monday, January 24, 2022 - 10:57 pm: Edit |
This would increase my availability — if there is a free cancellation period then pencil me in. I still need to work the logistics…
By Lawrence Bergen (Lar) on Monday, January 24, 2022 - 11:32 pm: Edit |
I shot over a couple options with links.
Let me know. You also have my number.
By Lawrence Bergen (Lar) on Monday, January 24, 2022 - 11:40 pm: Edit |
There are places closer for a little more money. Its seems like many options all better than hotels if you all pick up after yourselves and dont mind each other (outside of the game top trash talk haha)
Wish I would have researched this last year a bit. Might have been different a year back with C-19.

This is a much more affordable option. I am, also, a very accomplished short order cook and will bring my own cast iron pan to do breakfast...

>> will bring my own cast iron pan
That's being serious about cooking!

What a second,.... If we can rent an Air B&B for up to 9 people, won't it have a living room space that could be rearranged into the game area? We'd just need tables.
By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 - 05:37 pm: Edit |
Yes but that could mean moving a lot of furniture around and may not be a good option.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 - 09:47 pm: Edit |
Most living rooms would be tight holding a single F&E game. I thought you were doing for two games, and Al and I wanted to have a table for non-F&E games.
By Lawrence Bergen (Lar) on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 - 11:32 pm: Edit |
Yes Dan, there are places in the area that say they can hold up to 12 people. There is also one side by side duplex. SVC already has a venue though.
Bring Talisman or something for when the rest hit the hay.
Mike cooking with you sir would be fun...just missing Todd (who tried out AND made it past the opening screening for a famous cooking show on the food network.)
I havent yet seen any return emails saying go book this or that so we remain in planning stage alpha.
By Ryan Opel (Ryan) on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 - 11:45 pm: Edit |
Lar,
I'll post on FB to see what we can get for a response there.
Lar,
You need to convince Todd to come so we can all eat well.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 - 01:31 am: Edit |
If you find a B&B with game space that is fine. I haven't paid to reserve the J+J venue yet.
By Daniel Glenn Knipfer (Dgknipfer) on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 - 01:15 pm: Edit |
I agree, Ryan. It may not be a good option. It simply occurred to me that is just might be a viable option.
Its true that there may be a need to rearrange a few things, and that would be a pain; but depending on the size and layout of any given AirB&B it is an option. And if it reduces the overall price of attending the Con enough to convince a few more players to join all the better. Everybody coming has to budget for the con space as well as housing for the week. If we can catch a lucky break by combining them to get a lower total it is worth consideration.
If we find a place we like that could possibly work for housing and the game venue, we can ask the ADB staff to make sure we're not walking into a con job too. I'm pretty sure the local Better Business Bureau would have information on the worst offenders.
