I think the main grid has 1 more Ep and the partial grid 1 less Ep?

Hex 2513 is connected to the main Supply grid - and the 2513 province income will go to the main grid?

Rest looks good :)

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Sunday, September 04, 2022 - 10:59 pm: Edit

Two provinces can go either way. Both choose to go to the partial grid.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Saturday, September 24, 2022 - 03:41 am: Edit

Operational movement continues.

Only the Southern Federation front has so far been done - with a general broad offensive to the South and probably the re-cutting off various Klingon forces South East of Orion.

2318 hasn't been attacked - the small fleet plus reserve was sufficient to dissuade the Federation going for it I guess.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Sunday, September 25, 2022 - 03:49 am: Edit

Well, Federation offensive has continued into Eastern Klingon Territory and a deep raid gets to 1514!

1702 seems to be the focus of the Northern Front offensive.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Sunday, September 25, 2022 - 04:55 pm: Edit

Well, bulk of Kzinti front has now been done - 1001, 1202 and 1502 under heavy assault - with several random pinning battles too.

2 Kzinti Fleets did wiggle through and get to 502 (which I was aware could happen) and a scratch force defends the battered BATS (already has 2 SIDS).

About the only good news in the north is the 2 FRD parks in 1407 and 1509 (which was only guarded by a stack of crippled ships but did have reserves in range) are safe and are not attacked.

Hydran Front and Romulan front are untouched so far.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Tuesday, October 04, 2022 - 02:44 pm: Edit

Hydran front see's the Hydrans avoid the Hardpoints and go for province raiders and the supply tug in 217.

617 will get a nice new SB for C33!

Romulan front sees the Alliance continue the steamroller over the poor Romulans.

It's a real shame I was unable to get a few D5's and F5's over to help the Romulans - as they are really short on normal hulls to help fill out lines.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Tuesday, October 04, 2022 - 06:11 pm: Edit

lol it's a real shame Paul sent 24 of his finest ships thataway about 10 turns back. Without that, we'd have them offmap!

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Wednesday, October 05, 2022 - 03:27 pm: Edit

Hence why I sent a strong Lyran Squadron and a 'full' Klingon fleet (including the B10) :)

I probably should have put a second Klingon fleet in the South West of Romulan space - even though they would have been out of supply.

Whatever you do, it's never enough!!!!

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Saturday, October 08, 2022 - 09:02 am: Edit

Alliance Op movement has completed.

In effect, it's a broad offensive across Romulan, Federation, Klingon and Kzinti space!

Hydran do come out and play, mainly aiming for the Supply Tug in 217.

Colaition reserves have been dispatched, which should save 1001, 1502, 1514, 1811, 1813 and 2518.

Alas, the Romulans will not be able to save either of their planets under attack and 2214 and 2216 will also fall.

1202 might hold - equal compot but the Coalition ships are marginally more robust!

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Sunday, October 09, 2022 - 06:51 am: Edit

Well battles rage.

Fair to say, the dice roller has a sense of humour.

Couple of really good rolls for the Alliance and couple of really good rolls for the Coalition.

Unless your the Romulans though - still can't get or exceed the average of successful cloaked withdrawals!

First 6 combat dice rounds saw only 1 to 3's rolled (which to be fair, did help the Romulans in the medium battles) for both sides and it took 32 rolls to get a 4 and 34 rolls to get our first 5 (we had a couple of 6's before then).

In the largest battle for the turn - dice initially looks bad for the Coalition and then flipped towards the end - in the end 1502 was held by the Coalition.

Coalition compot was never below 110 - Alliance highest was 99 and it dropped to 74 by the end of the battle.

Butchers bill was 22 Coalition PF's died - plus a huge stack of cripples.

Alliance lost a bit more - Kzinti lost a BCH, CVS, MEC and FF (BCH mauled during the battle and the crippled 3CVS group mauled and killed in persuit) and the Federation lost a CC, FFE (both directed on during the battle) and 2 x FFS (killed in the persuit.

Coalition for once succeeded in a key pursuit AND I then rolled a 6 - and so the most successful Coalition pursuit for a long while.

To icing to the normal very bare Coalition cake, the Mauler passed the shock roll - Coalition are now up to 2 non-shocks in a roll!!

Alliance will be pretty happy no doubt with the turn so far - Romulans lost two planets and Federation edge closer to the last remaining Romulan SB, Federation have smashed the Southern Coalition forces (and several Coalition forces are likely to be out of supply again) and the Hydrans forced the Coalition back from the Old Colonies.

About a dozen battles still to go.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Sunday, October 09, 2022 - 02:03 pm: Edit

All but 1 battle to finish.

Fair to say, I think the Kzinti have seen the red mist of anger in wanting revenge to allow them to through caution to the wind.

So far - Lyrans have self killed a 6F, 6PF and a DW, the Kzinti a CC and 14 F.

Lyrans have also crippled 3 x D5, F5 and 3 x FF.

Kzinti have self crippled a DN, CVS, 3 x CMV and 2 x MEC.

Only uncripple units are the Lyran BATS (with 2 SIDS) and the Federation FFS.

Kzinti are down to 10 Fighters also.

And the Kzinti will be Cut off and out of supply.

For once I found a chink in Williams plan (I thought I had found a way to cut them off)..... and the William Fighting retreated in 902..... which would allow his force to normally retreat into 1001 (making that a very close battle) - but I was able to think about the problem and created the situation to allow the Coalition forces to normally retreat into 1001 (E4 flag used in effect).

So 1001 stays Klingon - as does 1202 - and William elected to do some free economic damage in 1102 and ran - thereby allowing me to win there too.

So the 502 and 902 (now in 1002) forces will be out of Supply.

All fun fun fun.

Alas as usual, the Coalition reserves which attempted to mug Alliance forces failed due to poor dice - but Alliance has rolled poorly in 502 to compensate for that.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Sunday, October 09, 2022 - 02:48 pm: Edit

And 502 has fallen!

Final round saw the BATS die and 8 Kzinti fighters die - and they retreated to 602.

So the Admiral of Assault Fleet now guesses his Commander DIDN'T thank the April Day prank he pulled earlier in the year was as 'funny' as he thought it was!!

A CMV and FFS lead a crippled fleet of DN, 2 x CMV, 2 x MEC and a CVS - with only 2 fighters between them.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 - 08:35 am: Edit

With only 2 turns to go.... time to start predicting the Winner.

Alas, with the fall of the Romulan Capitals - but a fairly large ship count swing this turn to the Coalition (for the first time/long time?????).... I predict a Draw!

Although the Coalition is up on Capitals (as probably expected), up on Bases (as possibly expected) - the Ep swing at the end (fairly easy to reduce Coalition Vp's with Raiders AND stop Coalition owning Alliance provinces) and Alliance ownning the Romulan capitals, I think it will mean the difference will be less than 50 Vp's!

In theory, it's possible the Alliance could retake 1401*, but unlikely???

* - SB and 10 PDU's (8 with PF's)

617 (also with a SB, but only 1 PDU on the Capital) is probably out of reach though now.

Just 2 more turns of fun to go!

Paul,

Could you post a map?

I was reading back through the archives. Is this the same game you two started in 2019-ish?

--Mike

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 - 10:56 am: Edit

Hi Mike

Had to check - yes

I can take a 'screen shot' (alas will not show much with the Cyberboard Map - but I might be able to do the mid level screen and take several copies)....

Alas no way of posting it though (I think - will try posting an image later) - happy to e-mail you them if you send me an email (address shown in details) or if someone has their own server, they can save them to it and post the address?

High level summary is

Kzinti - keep popping in and out off the top of the map but other than 1802 own very little (plus have several ships in Federation space).

Hydrans - Stuck to the Western hexes of the map

Federation - Own the bulk (99%+) of Federation space and have a few raiding fleets in Eastern Klingon/TBS Space.

Gorn - Doing the best - With the Federation, owns most of Romulan Space!

So the Western Alliance members are very much under the Coalition Thumb... and the Eastern ones are doing much better.

Alliance turn 32 is done. Deadcounts:

L 5
K 16
R 2
Coalition 23

Z 6 (BCH, CVS, CC)
H 2
F 9
G 1
Alliance 18

The Klingon and Romulan dead each include a small carrier -- but it hardly matters at this point!

Part of the reason the deadcount has moved in the Coalition favor is that at this stage, the Alliance have started to play more for position.

The Feds moved a lot of fleets forward on their front with the Klingons. They took two planets -- one in the F/K neutral zone and the other in Klingon space. But a lot of it was moving fleets to claim empty space that the Klingons had given up trying to hold.

I will do a fleet count when I get a chance. Probably the last one before game end.

With the game end approaching, there is no longer sense in cycling ships back from some forward areas. For this reason, the Feds spent 23EP on Field Repairs, and the Gorns spent 13EP.

A draw does seem possible. The Coalition will probably have +100 for capitals and nearly that much for bases. The Alliance will be ahead on economy.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Thursday, October 13, 2022 - 09:57 pm: Edit

Fleet counts as of the end of A32. Changes are from two turns ago:

UCTotal
Z36743(-10)
H45045(-4)
F27725302(-1)
G10713120(+8)
Alliance465(+56)45(-63)510(-7)

UCTotal
L9469163(-14)
K189104293(-17)
R541973(-13)
Coalition337(-21)192(-23)529(-44)

All fleets shrank except the Gorn, who benefit from facing greatly weakened Romulans. They have transferred much of their fleet to the Klingon front, but haven't yet lost much, if anything, over there.

The Alliance may be on pace to have a slight lead in total fleet size by war's end. The lead in uncrippled is much smaller than it appears, because a Coalition repair phase is coming up.

By William Jockusch (Verybadcat) on Thursday, October 13, 2022 - 10:39 pm: Edit

The Orions are grumbling about their inability to trade with the Coalition. Unless they can reconnect to the Coalition supply grid, they will rejoin the Federation at the start of A33.

The rule is less than crystal clear on this, but I'm guessing that a partial grid wouldn't be enough.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Wednesday, November 02, 2022 - 02:56 pm: Edit

C33 has started

Economies are good for the Lyrans and Klingons still - but Romulans are in alot of pain.

Lyrans build 3 x FF and spend 60.5 Eps on Repairs.

They also spend 4.5 Eps on PF and scrap a captured Kzinti FF for 1 Ep.

Klingons build 2 x D5, 1 x AD5, 5 x F5, 1 x F5S, 3 x E4 and a VP Pod set.

They also buy a CP (3 now) 38 Ep's on Repairs and 5.5 Eps on PF's.

Romulans build a BHE.

They spend 1.5 Ep's on PF's and 10 Ep's on Repairs.

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Wednesday, November 02, 2022 - 03:23 pm: Edit

Bulk of Romulan front and Hydran Front has been done so far.

Romulans tried to wiggle round the Federation front line - but failed and so will go for the liberation of 5117 and two muggings on province raiders.

1 reserve can do something for the Alliance.

Hydran front - main two Hydran forces are pinned in 215 and 217 - 515 isn't yet under attack - need to work out if it's worthwhile.

Kzinti Front has just been started with the battered Kzinti force in 602 under attack.

By Tom Lusco (Tlusco) on Thursday, November 03, 2022 - 08:56 am: Edit

Man, everything is relative. I just love the way you casually say that economies are good for the Lyrans and Klingons....while the Lyrans build three crappy frigates!

By Paul Howard (Raven) on Thursday, November 03, 2022 - 01:50 pm: Edit

Tom

Lyrans remain the repairers for the Western Coalition (Klingon FRD's seem to have died, Lyran ones haven't) - and so that has stopped the Lyrans building much.

20 Less Ep's on Repairs could have built 3 x CW and a DW for example - and so builds would have been closer then.
