AT&T servers hate Vassal(the program) as well.

Sorry I did not make it by as planned. After my dr appointment, the doctor strongly advised me to go home and rest quietly for the rest of the day.

Hey y'all as you probably figured out by now I'm not going to be able to stop by either. The dates of my trip shifted slightly and so it doesn't line up.
A little bummed, I really wanted to actually meet y'all.
On the flip side my daughter and I's camping trip was amazing

Could someone pass a message to David J that I could discuss his computer game idea at the office after lunch today, say 1pm.

I would like to thank the Stratcon players for their hospitality this week. We had a great time watching and asking questions on game play and strategy.

I concur with Ken. My wife and I both enjoyed meeting a fantastic group of people with an amazing dedication to F&E. Thank you!

COVID ALERT
Everyone who attended StratCon should be tested for Covid. Four people who were there have tested positive so far (SPP, SVC, David J, and Jean) We know that one attendee was sick during the con but don’t know what he had.

That COVID is insane. I'm vaccinated, boosted as much as is legally allowed, have avoided it successfully until now, and it still got me. Felt like a thunderclap out of nowhere too. Made it hard to move and impossible to think.
I'm stuck in a hotel in my own home town for a while just to keep the family safe.

Marie also tested for Covid two days after we got back (friday). She isolated right away and I and my daughters are fine (continually testing negative). We also were max vaccinated too. SVC thanks for the notice, we had assumed she must have gotten at airport during travel.

Leanna crashed HARD with COVID four hours ago. Fever, cough, confusion, easily distracted, hurts all over.
All of ADB had every jab we could get. I have never had it until today.even when Leanna had it I never got it.

If any attendee has the cell phone number of another attendee who hasn’t posted in days you might call him with the warning and post his status. Can someone call Colonel Strong in particular. Do not berate him, just check on him. He may be patient zero.

I’m okay and tested negative yesterday. I had no fever but suffered heavily from grass allergies while in Amarillo. I’ve had a history of of reactions to late spring and early summer grasses while stationed in Oklahoma.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, August 01, 2023 - 12:13 pm: Edit |
We will hope you never had it, Colonel, but COVID is a slippery beast and you could have had it and been over it by now. Somebody. From outside Amarillo brought it to the party. It doesn’t really matter who. We were just concerned for your health.

I have tested positive for COVID this morning. I helped drive around several people, including Col Strong.
I would suggest that anyone that attended get tested at this point.

I'm in contact with Patrick. He tested negative on Sunday, and will retest on Thursday.

Tested Covid negative on Monday evening. No ill health while in Amarillo.

Tested positive this afternoon after work. Will take another one Thursday morning. If it was me, sorry guys. I must have caught it while in Dallas.

No issues here. Sorry to hear its running its course.
I drove the Barstow group to and from everyday and sat between Chuck and Turtle daily. I did have a slight headache Wednesday or Thursday while there but attributed it to the high heat and my stubbornness to drink enough water rather than coffee (or beer). I did drink more water after that and it faded away.
(The coffee was/is excellent...thanks again Jeff).
I have been luckily resistant during large group exposures 3x in the past 3 years. I have had a shot or two despite almost never getting a flu shot, if only to protect my elder parents whom I visited at least once each of the past three years.

I'm glad your okay Lar. Your welcome on the coffee!
While my symptoms are not as bad as Leanna or SPP, I am grateful not everyone is coming down with it.
In other news, I was able to successfully modify Patrick's Cheesy Compot Oracle to accept a second Compot and report on a second column. Let me know if anyone is interested in it.
By Patrick Sledge (Decius) on Wednesday, August 02, 2023 - 01:30 pm: Edit |
Jeff - As the Patrick who made the cheesy compot oracle, I'd be interested in seeing what you did! Mind sending to me?
By David Jannke (Bigslowtarget) on Wednesday, August 02, 2023 - 01:36 pm: Edit |
Starting to come out of this thing now. Still feel weird. Paxlovid seemed to help but had it's own costs. Everything tastes like copper and you should have your own bathroom.
I'm jealous Lar. The only way I've avoided it this long is paying close attention and active defenses. I let my guard down a little around Stratcon and should have known better - I actually cancelled my trip in 2022 because I might have been exposed but in the end didn't catch it or wasn't exposed. Oh well.
Jeff - If Patrick's Cheesy Compot Oracle is a system, program, or sheet I'd love to see it. Let me know how to ask for access.
By Patrick Sledge (Decius) on Wednesday, August 02, 2023 - 03:12 pm: Edit |
David - The "Cheesy Compot Oracle" is a spreadsheet I made that calculates damage numbers for the entire spectrum of battle intensities if you enter the compot, plus a few sets of lines for mocking up battle forces.
The idea is that you can use it to help decide things like "What BIR do I need to pick to have a good chance of one-shotting that base" or "What is the highest BIR can I pick without risking a Paladin getting blown out of the form box"
I can send a copy of my original once in back home this afternoon, but I am curious about Jeff's extension to it. It's one of those things I keep meaning to add a few features to, but don't get around to doing, since I get distracted blowing up cardboard space ships.
By Jeff Guthridge (Jeff_Guthridge) on Wednesday, August 02, 2023 - 10:21 pm: Edit |
Patrick, surely. Sent to the email in your profile.
David, I've sent it to you as well, again via the email in your profile.
I can absolutely concur on Paxlovid. It 'feels' like someone dropped an old-fashioned aspirin in the back of my throat and let it dissolve there!
Thankfully my symptoms have been on the mild side otherwise.
By Lawrence Bergen (Lar) on Thursday, August 03, 2023 - 12:21 am: Edit |
Yeah I have been lucky to be sure.
