Hi!
A discussion thread for the Probr in F&E Omega.

OK, from Omega MSC the ships available ~Y125-Y150
FF/FFA (combat variant) 4-4/2-2
SC 1-4(1EW)/1-2
DD 5-5/3-3
CVE (Y149) 4-5(3)/2-3(1)
CA/CAA (combat variant) 9-8/4-4
The would need created: CA-SR, DDG or FFG.
They have a "CM" which is introduced Y152, so the void between DD->CA might be empty until after the 1st Great War. Of course a "failed/inadequate" CL design could fit there also.
Probr, by their construction have movement penalties if heavily damaged, so I'm going to have SC-3's have 1 less DEFENSE.

Do you not also suggest that crippled Probr ships would have an operational movement penalty?

Operational Movement penalty?
Well what happens with the Probr, they have 3 warp engines (like CA=5/8/5, DD=3/8/3).
If either all L.Warp/R.Warp is destroyed it has a worse turn mode, like B to D, thus it loses manueverablity.
They also are a Plasma-armed race, so it matter significantly.
Besides the fact, their background is that they use many of the same pieces on different sized ships, like tinker-toys, so the another justification for something less than normal for the SC.
Hey, it's just a proposal.

For the record Scott, I do not claim to know too much about the Omega races. I have only the first module and your CL 29 article "Friends and Enemies" to go by. The article is an excellent Omega primer for use with F&E. My compliments.
Looks like I will be ordering the three other Omega modules this evening. Gotta keep up with my hobby.
Concerning Probr Engines, I do see the point of your proposal. I was wondering if they might not also have an operational movement penalty when crippled.
BTW, what is the basic assumption for opeational movement in the Omega sector? Speed 6?

From everything printed so far, yes, speed 6 for GW, (which presumably is what we are talking about here.)
LMC stated in KenB's proposal that they were slower strategically. (It's in the LMC playtest material at least).
Just some FYI, Omega 1-2 have the majority of what we are talking about here.
O3 has the FRA, Iridani, Worb, Singers, Souldra, Ymatrin
O4 has the Qixa, RYN, Bolosco, Branth
So you don't have to break your bank just to talk about this.

Worse turn mode won't show up at F&E scale.
Regular ships do not slow down when crippled and can even use strat movement. Why would crippling have any effect on these guys?
The Paravians in CL28 had no effect on speed when crippled that I can remember and they had the same "lose an engine, lose maneuverability" effect.
