SVC, no I am refering to the fiction in CLs, and also on things like the comment in M:R6 about the fate ofthe SEL.
To me the excerpts above just seemed to reinforce that:),
thats all.

John, ok, sounds good. I am excited about what more background will do for my gaming experience.
Now I only need to wait for the release. I guess it will be thick book, that won't fit in the ordinary enevelope for airmail;)

It's not that I dislike the Romulans as a race, I actually like the way that they're presented in SFB, the thing I don't like about them is their ships. I've never been a big fan of the plasma torpedo. But the Romulan episodes of TOS were always some of my favorites. When I would play Romulans, I always seemed to have better luck playing the Old Series ships.

Is this the end of Super Fed Fanboy?! Has he become a Romulan? Find out next time...same Fed time, same Fed channel!

GR is 144 pages.

For reference, GK4 is 144 pages, the same as GK3, and GPD4 is 200 pages, up from 176 in GPD3.

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Friday, April 01, 2005 - 10:15 pm: Edit

It probably had little to do with me but I spent a bit of effort hoping to convince SVC to do whatever it takes to hit the (what I percieve to be) magic 200 page number. In product pricing $1.99 sounds less that $2.00 but this is a bad thing for a publication page count. 200 pages is SO much beefier sounding that 198.

I'm really glad fate worked out to have GPD4e at 200 pages!

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, April 02, 2005 - 09:31 am: Edit

Well, GPD had 200 instead of 198 mostly because we discovered at the last minute that somebody had left two pages out.

GPD at 200 pages is the same price as GK/GR at 144 pages. This is a combination of two factors. One is to give a really good core rulebook at a discounted price to get the customers into the game, and the other was that somebody told Leanna that the hardback GURPS books were 29.95 (they're 39.95) and we didn't want to compare unfavorably by releasing a trade book at the same price as a hardback.

Is Gurps Romulans going to have information about Romulan Admirals and Commodores? Also will it have info about the Romulan civil war and for which sides they fought?

By Randy O. Green (Hollywood750) on Sunday, April 17, 2005 - 10:02 pm: Edit

Carl, I'm coming late to the discussion, but I had to throw my two cents in since I had two fairly recent stories involving Romulans in CLs. I like to think that if it weren't for all the political infighting, the Romulans would be the dominant race in the galaxy. That said, the different political groups definitely work well together against their common enemies (Gorns, Federation, etc).... That is, as long as their faction gets the lion's share of the glory.. I did try to faithfully model the Roms in my stories on everything I had read prior to this, but in the end, perhaps I mis-interpreted and over-politicized them. (Or again, maybe not.) :)

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Sunday, April 17, 2005 - 10:37 pm: Edit

Randy, I don't recall anything contrary in your stories having been involved in GR since fairly early on.

While I don't think your stories broke new ground or needed to for your plots there is a situation where what gets published first defines the way things are. As such your stories were probably part of the source material. I can't speak for John Sickles, of course but that would be my guess.

Ultimately I'm pretty darn sure your going to love GR!

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, April 18, 2005 - 11:03 am: Edit

Russell: about specific individuals? No.

I have finished the last changes, edits, and fixes to GRoms4e. I have "built the pdf" from the pagemaker files. I can hear Kate down the hallway printing the "final check copy" even now.

The cover printer says we will have those about 4pm tomorrow. We can't really print copies until we have covers since we can't leave unbound books laying around the office for hours (or overnight).

Current theory is we'll print a couple of dozen copies late tomorrow, then start major production on Wednesday morning. We can print 180 copies per day (using both printers) and will probably be printing all the way into next week to get the initial orders out.

Yeah, Ramses or Isis might get pawprints all off them.

And the product is clearly "Romulans", not "Feline Empires."

Congradulations.

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Monday, April 25, 2005 - 07:47 pm: Edit

Pardone my anxiousness but will those first dozen perhaps be the staff copies? :O

By John Sickels (Johnsickels) on Monday, April 25, 2005 - 08:40 pm: Edit

I second Loren.....annttiiccciippaationn.

SVC: how about posting the cover art for GR?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 - 10:06 am: Edit

Leanna is the only one who can do the cover and she's on jury duty today.

After the way I botched the last staff mailing I was going to try to get the GR copies mailed tomorrow.

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 - 02:46 pm: Edit

You did a staff mailing of the other stuff?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 - 04:27 pm: Edit

Argh. Covers delayed until tomorrow.

By John Sickels (Johnsickels) on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 - 07:11 pm: Edit

I will be going on a trip next week. Is there any hope for my copy to show up by Saturday?

By John Sickels (Johnsickels) on Tuesday, April 26, 2005 - 07:13 pm: Edit

Randy: don't worry about your Romulan stories. They were part of my source material when I researched for the book. It all fits together.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 - 09:09 am: Edit

If I get covers today, I will try as hard as I can to get John Sickel's copy mailed today.

By John Sickels (Johnsickels) on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 - 10:04 am: Edit

Thanks, Steve!

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 - 11:08 am: Edit

Word from the printer is that the covers will be here at 1:30.

By John Sickels (Johnsickels) on Sunday, May 01, 2005 - 08:31 am: Edit

I am leaving on a trip this afternoon, but my copy of Gurps Romulans arrived on Friday.

Guys, it looks awesome. I'm just talking about the art...you should be very, very happy with it.

As for the book itself, well I love it but I'm biased. I hope you guys like it too.

By Saul Schimek (Bouncycaitian) on Monday, May 09, 2005 - 02:02 pm: Edit

Oooh, now I have something to look forward to this week :D

And hullo all
