Woooohooo! You can now acquire an e-version of our Prime Directive PD20M Core Rulebook through DriveThru RPG! Try it here: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product_info.php?products_id=88002

Excellent!
I look forward to seeing more ADB PDFs on DTRPG/RPGnow. In fact, if the Starmada-SFU PDF products make it there, I'll buy them that same day!
Thanks :-)

John, the only line that will appear on DriveThru RPG is the PD20M. In all honesty, they take a much bigger cut than e23, so everything else will appear there.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, February 01, 2011 - 12:03 pm: Edit |
That is the plan. The PD20M stuff will only be on DriveThru; everything else will be on e23. Nothing will be both places (except maybe free stuff, and we might put the "aldo" modules on drivethru, but I'm not sure about either of those).

PD20M Sales: 8 yesterday and 2 this morning.
By John Rudd (Johnrudd) on Tuesday, February 01, 2011 - 03:35 pm: Edit |
Ah. I tend to do 99% of my PDF buying through DriveThru/RPGnow ... that's just where I think of first, when looking for new games, and digital copies of games. But, I can understand leaning toward e23 if they take less of a cut.
I'll probably get the starmada stuff there tonight. I'll have to think about where to buy the PD20M electronic copies (I _just_ got the hard-copies).
By John Rudd (Johnrudd) on Tuesday, February 01, 2011 - 03:44 pm: Edit |
So... only the PD20M stuff will be on DT/RPGN?
What about:
d6PD?
PD20 (non-modern)?
the potential SavageWorlds version?
the potential Fudge version?
(the genesis of the question is: I'm wondering if the reason for putting PD20M on DT and not e23 is that SJG doesn't want a competing RPG on e23? if so, what will happen to the other PD variants? Or was there a different reason and all of the other variants will be on e23 as well?)
By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Tuesday, February 01, 2011 - 03:51 pm: Edit |
John, I figured that most d20 Modern players haunt RPG DriveThru more than they haunt e23. We'll cross the other bridges when I have book in hand.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, February 02, 2011 - 01:22 pm: Edit |
I don't know that I want to upload d20 non-modern until we fix it, and I'm not convinced it's worth fixing.
As for Savage Worlds, Fudge, and D6, we'll figure out the best market when those are done. Right now, they're just "wish they'd get done" products.
We put the d20m stuff on DT for several reasons, one of which is that most d20 people shot at DT (although there is another equally important reason which I don't plan to discuss again). Given their commissions, we won't put much else there unless we're convinced that it's the best place to do it.

Is there any possibility that an OGL version of the modern rules could be worked up for the PD Modern game? I know this was asked in the past, but some time has passed now. With the modern rulebook by WOC gone, I was wondering if the opportunity is there for ADB to do something for the Modern version of PD. Maybe just make it a free download so you don't waste paper, shipping, etc.
I know there are "some kind" of fan produced Modern rule basics in OGL format at various online game sites, but it would be nice if ADB had something that was easily usable for this system.

Darren, we are looking at that, but in the meantime, try this: You can pick up RPGObjects Modern d20 Core Kit for free at http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=57989.

I wonder, since the WOTC d20 modern rulebook is OOP, if the following link might be added to the the "tell me about PD20 Modern" section to let people know that there is a FREE alternate core rulebook for them to use to deter someone not buying it because they didn't know a free core rulebook exists:

If Jean wants Joel to add that, she can tell him to. I thought we already have a link to the out of print rulebook itself.

is there one? Maybe I missed it. If it's there, maybe it just needs to be relocated here:

(meaning the free core rules)

Darren, thanks for the idea. I've sent it on to Joel to implement.

your welcome. Just trying to make ADB more money

Just wanted to follow up on this. Did you think this was a good idea?
By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 - 09:54 am: Edit |
Darren, I did, but it apparently slipped through the cracks. I've sent a work order to Joel.
Thanks!

Darren, check this out, please. What do you think?
By Darren Kehrer (Kehrer1701) on Thursday, March 01, 2012 - 09:14 pm: Edit |
awsome! Thanks. At least this will let people know that they can get a free supplement for the core rules to use with the PD20 M book...
Thanks for doing that.

Just my $0.02, my prefered version of d20 Modern is Spycraft 2.0 with the supplemental pdf Back to Basics.

Redner, on this board we require that you use your real name. You'll need to edit your account to reflect that.
Thanks for the information.

Spycraft does have a nice system. We use it in our local ongoing Pulp campaign. Very cinematic, which is great for Pulp, but I'm not sure it's a good fit for the SFU.
I've always seen this as a more gritty, realistic vision of the future.
