Terry, as Will noted, it's a tech development thing, something that is largely invisible in the but does add fine distinctions to PD & color to writings.
Another area that replicators were not developed for is food processing. TOS called them dispensers or servitors. Most plans have raw component bins these processors work from. TNG tech indicates there were no 'raw' materials, everything was generated from an energy matrix.
Is all this necessary? I suppose not, but if that is what people wanted, we could just wad everything and all the shows, games, movies, books and so on together and call it 'Trrryech' I suppose.
There are a LOT of transparent tech changes that are subsumed as the scale of the game changes.

Robert, "Another area that replicators were not developed for is food processing." is explicitly contradicted in the PD main rulebook - food replicators exist in the SFU. Material from TNG is outside the license and doesn't apply.

Another item to add to the list: trash compactor & garbage bins.
Don't forget to include overrides so rogue robots can't shut the system down and allow the prisoners to escape.

And weld a grille over the reactor exhaust port. I mean, it's a million-to-one that an A-10 will send a torpedo down the port, but why take a chance?

Are there deck plans for freighters somewhere?

They are pretty nice ones too.

Love to have them as a vector-image PDF... so as to be able to print them out in miniatures-useable scales when needed.

My program can export to a non-standard DXF, which I can then pull into TurboCAD-19 and re-save as a proper DXF. But I don't know how to get the file converted to scalable-PDF. If you know how, let me know.
Stve Cole uses Freehand version 8 for Mac computers. I have to sit down and do some test images to see which ones his program can import.
