I have looked through the materials and I would like to work on the

ANSWER: I set up a topic for you on the BBS.

War Eagle. Is there an established deadline or is this ASAP?

ANSWER: Soon as you can, less tha a month if at all possible.


Looking at pictures of models I believe the War Eagle is roughly:

Height: 24 meters
Length: 126 meters
Wide: 171 meters
Decks: 7 decks of various size

ANSWER: I have no idea. Maybe Will McCammon or Garth or Nick will help out here.


I do have a questions about a couple of aspects of the ship:

Wings: From my "guestamates" on size, the wings are 11-12 meters thick
at the root and perhaps 4-6 meters at the nacelle. I believe that
there might be usable space that the crew could access in half the
wing area. Would this fuel and consumable storage or actual rooms? If
rooms are acceptable, does the slope of the wing need to be taken into
a account or does "anti-gravity" cause it to appear flat?

ANSWER: I would assume most is fuel but if you need volume for things you
cannot get into the hull you can use some space. I'd assum that the rooms there
would be oriented by artificial gravity to the floor as it is.

Nacelles: Is there any material that indicates useable deck space in
the nacelles beyond maintenance areas?

ANSWER: I'd say just maintainence space.


SDD refits: Are we assuming that the ships have refits or do deck
plans have to show both old and refit ships?

ANSWER: I'd assume all refits, then we can do unrefitted plans by just erasing stuff
and writing in "cargo".


Ph-3's: Is there an actual gun battery room on the end of the nacelles
for Ph-3's or are these remote control guns like the "R2-D2" Gatling
guns on aircraft carriers?

ANSWER: No gunners up there, remote control.


Armor: Should this be shown on the ship or can it represented in
thicker floors between levels?


ANSWER: this is not armor plate but capacitors as seen on some ship.
I know we did a ship with armor. Maybe it was the snipe. Not sure.

CL#36 Has the Snipe deck plans. The Armor is shown as capacitors that asorb the energy to prolong the hull's structual integraty.

For further references, use this. Note that SFB or SFU info that contradicts these blueprints should be considered more accurate.

The War Bird is actually my favorite (awesome but impractical) ship, but the War Eagle is obvious a more powerful and versatile ship.

To get the size I would use the sandrine comparison shot of the WE and the Constitution class and work it out from there.

I pulled out the Starline 2500 minis and measured them. I have to say, I was rather disappointed with the castings now that I had a very close look at them. I would have though all of these should have been thicker.

Thank you for those measurements.

The Eagle is an old and proud ship, a little "wing warping" is to be expected of a ship of its age. Some captains liken the warping to a "fifty mission crush" on a cap. However, if the warping affects combat performance of your ship, a week or two in drydock can correct the issues. Please fill out form ROM-1-WE.

Another option, Phil, is to try to match the Snipe scale to the published deck plans, and then use that scale for the rest.

I presume Steve sent you the PDF file, so find a clear plastic metric ruler and set the zoom feature such that 1-cm = 1-m, then you can measure the plans accurately.

As to the ship's thickness being "too thin", if that turns out to be a problem, you can alway "cheat" an extra deck's worth of thickness into the plans and nobody would be the wiser.

The minis are almost always too thin.

The process of creating the molds always ends up with some shrinkage.

It also ends up squishing them, by varying amounts. In some cases (like the Fed BC's rear hull) it's quite extreme. Given how thin the Sl2400 War Eagles wings ended up (too thin and easily bent to be intentional), I'd say it got squashed some too.

I'd consider just "scaling up" the snipe (so to speak, metaphorically) as a start.
