Star Fleet Universe Discussion Board: Prime Directive RPG: NEW GAME SYSTEMS: D6 Prime Directive: Archive through August 30, 2012
By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 - 11:04 pm: Edit

Bill, it is mostly me finding time to do it and that has proven difficult the last bit. I am looking forward to my annual trip to Amarillo where I can pull twelve-hour days totally dedicated to PD and get 'er done.

"Get 'er done"

Jean the Redneck Proofreader.

Ok, thought I would offer if you needed someone to help out to get in closer to normal GURPS format from PD20M.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Wednesday, December 01, 2010 - 10:52 am: Edit

Bill, I have the GURPS books and poor somebody will have to do the layout to match, that's all. No biggie, except for proofreading to make sure stuff matches SJG's style guide and that is a "Jean Thing." Thanks for the offer, though.

Ryan, when you drive a log truck, ya gotta blend in ...

I'm still around for proof reading and playtesting of d6 PD, if you still want people to look over that when done.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Sunday, December 05, 2010 - 10:02 am: Edit

Darren, when I get that far, I'll be looking in this topic. Thanks!

I was looking over at RPGNow, almost all of the previous WEG d6 (Space, Fatansy, Adventure, Space Ships, etc..) stuff is FREE. If you hadn't already seen that, I wanted to point it out in case you wanted to grab it for future reference. With WEG no longer around (can only find a fan forum now), I don't know how long it will be up. Since it went OGL, this could be a great foundation for when PD gets closer to going forward on that project.

Jean do you have a Writer close to submiting a Ruleset in like the next 6 to 12 months? If you don't can we start discussing Possiable Templates with eyes toward a E23 Preview type supplement for SW2e or D6Space.

There's also the "Mini6" free version of boiled-down d6 mechanics. I've heard lots of good reviews of it, as a great starting point for light weight RPG gaming.

Hello Jean, just wanted to keep this topic alive...
With GURPS and d20/modern under the belt now, might we see another game system get added to the toolbelt this year?

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Thursday, June 02, 2011 - 12:40 am: Edit

Ask me after Origins, please?

By Darren Kehrer (Kehrer1701) on Thursday, June 02, 2011 - 08:20 pm: Edit

sure thing..

ok, asking...

Traveller count?

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 - 12:40 am: Edit

Darren, it will have to be Traveller that has the primary focus right now. :) This is a joint venture, so has priority over OGLs.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 - 03:58 pm: Edit

Sadly, Jean cannot do multiple books at the same time, but must do them one at a time, and the four (maybe five) traveller books must be done before anything else (including the "Tholians" book which would be done for all systems).

I know that D6 should have been done a long time ago, but the various guys who started writing it disappeared without finishing it. That's just not ADB's fault.

By Darren Kehrer (Kehrer1701) on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 - 04:41 pm: Edit

That makes sense, since Traveller should be a HUGE success. I realize it's not ADB's fault at all, I wonder why d6 has been so difficult to get writer's to complete? The Star Wars d6 was a HUGE success with many, many books done with it.
I was hoping that with d6 now OGL, it might make it easier for someone to get that done.
I'm happy with what we have, but would still like to see a d6 version over a HERO version of PD.
I just like to ask every once and a while and keep this topic alive hoping someone will see it that has the ability to write it.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 - 04:49 pm: Edit

Darren, I haven't pushed my D6 author to rewrite to the OGL because it isn't fair to sit on his work for months as I work on Traveller and Romulans PD20M. He's still out there, but the market for Feds was much better as is Mongoose's Traveller.

By Darren Kehrer (Kehrer1701) on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 - 04:51 pm: Edit

thanks for the additional info...
I'm happy with all of it, just wanted to ask..:)

By Darren Kehrer (Kehrer1701) on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 - 05:34 pm: Edit

I would rather see a HERO version more than a D6... But with MGP doing a Traveller edition, I am guessing that will trump all for awhile.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 - 05:38 pm: Edit

Jean Sexton and Mike West are doing the traveller version, not MGP.

By Darren Kehrer (Kehrer1701) on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 - 05:55 pm: Edit

oops, my mistake

By Darren Kehrer (Kehrer1701) on Thursday, August 30, 2012 - 07:33 pm: Edit

With the state of the d6 system, is this pretty much out for a future possibility?

By Darren Kehrer (Kehrer1701) on Thursday, August 30, 2012 - 07:41 pm: Edit

One of the big drawbacks of HERO is that "new" copies of the first volume of the huge V1/V2 set to make up the "core books" has been OOP. Good news, there is a new book coming out that provides all the basic rules, plus the rest for supers rpg.

Nothing is going to happen this year, probably not next year. Until Jean gets here, no new systems are even possible. (I am counting traveller as one we "did" even if the first book it's out yet.)

We'll do very well if during 2013 we can release the traveller versions of Klingons, Roms, and Feds, and Final Frontier #1.
