Thank you Paul. I know you were looking into the technical side so let me know if there's anything I can do to help on any aspect.

Russ,
Will do. The plan is setup a community-based Interactive Fiction that has a simple web interface. I am investigating Twine 2.0. I will be happy to setup a web server that supports this.

Interactive Fiction is wonderful thing.

What I would like to be able to do is have a web site setup so that people can collaborate of pieces of Interface Fiction. The idea is to make it relatively simple to use. That is it would not require programming to create a piece of fiction.

Some interactive fiction is simple hypertext fiction that allows people to roam through a story. That is instead of forcing a narrative upon a reader, the reader would be given an option on how he want discover the story.

Some other interactive fiction are actually more puzzles than telling a story. Though as any game developer will tell there is always a narrative behind the game that tells a story. So even the more puzzle like IF you are telling a story.

Nope. Interactive Fiction is like Hadean Lands.

The core of interactive fiction is about the text. You can add graphics or video to augment the text. But the focus is the written word.

Hadean Lands is more on the game end of things.

I have been looking at Twine and come to be realization that there are multiple ways to approach the creation of IF.

One approach to describing a piece of IF as to describe the individual objects, places and personalities and their interaction with the each other and the reader. This is a natural way to think about things when creating a game since you are abstracting out the coding of how the various things interact.

Another approach to describing a piece of IF is to use a passage-based approach. This approach more closely matches how an author of a story tells a story. That is the interactions are known to the author and need to be described piece by piece to the system. This is more of what Twine uses. For a person that is used to writing prose, this approach is more natural.

For me, the first approach would be the more natural one to do, since i am not use to writing prose and telling stories.
