Ships in the SFU have always had power-system venting equipment, stemming back to the FJS blueprints and tech manual. I don't see any conflict.

Very belated notice - basic plans done (3 years ago) and sent to SVC
Now looking into doing the DN, found I did set up the CA so that the center wasn't completely connected to the outer spontoons so I can just slide the two apart for the command center hull [yay for some forethought!]
Problem, I have an old Lion (without engines) so I don't have the center engine strut, anyone have a general idea on its size and shape (for the side view)??

Update -
Redid the Tiger as the illustration in the Lyran MSSB has a smaller footprint than the mini and dang if it didn't grow (too many rounding errors I didn't catch right)…
Footprint without engines = Length - 159.75 m, Width - 119 m, Height - 12.25 m
Have done preliminary outlines of the Pol, MP, FF, DW, DD, CW, NCA, CL, CS, BC, CSH, & DN (matching the illustrations for the most part)

Update -
Done with the preliminaries for all base hulls (added the BB) …
Now it's the waiting game as it's going to take a bit of SVC time to find what's missing … [hopefully sometime in '19]

That is great to read.

I saw an early draft of Stewarts plans. It's good work. Nice job. At the time, there was still a ton of holes to fill in, but it looked like he was on the right track. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Something to look at

Cool.

Very cool.
Seems like a very logical layout and uses the space well. I really love the placement of the bay-door on this design. Not quite a launch tube, but close (or is it? I do see it has its own airlock compartment and door - even cooler).
The in-bay transfer path has the fighters almost looking like one of those "elephant walk" displays the Air Force does on the runway, to show surge capability.

Comments:
1.) It looks as though the sixth fighter's preparation area is immediately in front of the shuttle launch lock, meaning if the last fighter in has not completed rearming, the first fighter in which will have had more time to be re-armed will be blocked from exiting until the last fighter can be moved "somewhere" and the layout of the bay does not seem to provide for any means to pass fighters past one another if the full strike group is in the bay.
2.) There does not seem to be room for the two admin shuttles that should be part of this bay.
3.) I might be missing something and apologize if I am, but the above are what I see looking at how the bay would have to operate (moving the fighters, and shuttles, around) and what should be in the bay looking at the SSD (six fighters and two shuttles).

(*Forgot the text layer*)
There are eight refuel/rearm areas, the 'first' slot is for a shuttle along with the fourth slot (MRS slot, has the spare shuttle area 'behind' it) [counting SW to NE].
The green area behind the fighter box is for the ready rack and fuel service. East of the bay is deck crew quarters, north is phasers and disrupters, south is the APR/battery, SE is AUX.
SPP, the bay size is a bit cramped but the CVL has less width to work with, although the magtracks are outside of the service areas allowing for some maneuvering of craft when everyone else is IN their slots (not enough room for a passing).
One other thing, the ZYs shown are slightly oversized. The B10 bays placed them as about 6.3 m wingspan and length while the squares are 6.5 m and the turntables are 7.5 m.
FYI, the ZH is just over 8 m wingspan and the outer door can be stretched to cover that distance, barely!

Hey Stewart:
I've been working on plans for the Bobcat, and Jean said I should check in with you.
Scott

Yes, have a preliminary set of plans (many black boxes) for the Bobcat, but the need for serious SVC time has them on hold ...
The PF itself is about 36 x 21.25 x 6.5 m (x 8 m with full fuel bladders) with eight RCS systems in the corners.

Would you look at what I developed and tell me if I am on the right track?
By Stewart Frazier (Frazikar3) on Friday, July 23, 2021 - 06:40 pm: Edit |
You could, but as long as your plans are within the above footprint and match either miniature (there was one under the 2400/2500 series) or illustrations (MSSB), you're good to go ...
Just remember that the Bobcat is two decks high (as are the impulse engines) with a (single-height) bridge deck connecting the upper levels ...

We are redoing the 3rd draft now, to take into account the single deck aspect of the crossover
By Scott A Akers (Mjolnir3853) on Saturday, July 24, 2021 - 03:00 pm: Edit |
Would there be a jeffries tube style crawl space between the two pylons under the bridge, so that techs can move back and for between the two without have to cut through the bridge?
By Stewart Frazier (Frazikar3) on Sunday, July 25, 2021 - 07:01 pm: Edit |
No, as any such space would have to be in front of the impulse engines to even work. Remember that the crew is in space-suits while the PF is running, so it's easier just to walk across the bridge corridor (most of the crew is seated) ...

How would you prefer to receive the current draft? Email? And in what format? GIF/JPG/PNG?
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, July 26, 2021 - 05:47 am: Edit |
Having seen Stew’s deck plans and Scott’s, I have to say that Stew’s are the ones gamers will buy. Scott’s just aren’t.
By Scott A Akers (Mjolnir3853) on Monday, July 26, 2021 - 08:52 pm: Edit |
And can I buy them please? I was not making these to sell, I was making these so I could start building a model. And seeing nothing on the market, I went ahead and started working on something in the vacuum.
By Stewart Frazier (Frazikar3) on Monday, July 26, 2021 - 09:11 pm: Edit |
Scott, at this point it's SVC's call though do remember that those are preliminary plans and not final ...
By Garth L. Getgen (Sgt_G) on Monday, July 26, 2021 - 09:28 pm: Edit |
I would suggest bundling the CA and PF deck plans into one product.

I think each ship should be one product.

Funny story. Years ago, we printed out a copy of Stew's CA plans, sat at the table with several people, wrote all manner of notes all over the plans, folded up the printouts, mailed them to Stew, and they never arrived. Needless to say we did not keep a copy of the notes.
Let me check in a few days (tomorrow will be busy) and if I can find the originals I will print out another set and we will try again.
