GARY: Petrick has read 4 and I just gave him 3 to read. We'll get them to Robert Gilson tonight. I need the missing bits of 5 and 6.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Sunday, April 14, 2002 - 03:42 pm: Edit

Status report:
0: done
1: done
2: sent to Gilson
3: sent to Gilson
4: sent to Gilson
5: done, except for the "page of missing rules"
6: done, except for the "promotion page".

I think we have something like 120 pages finalized in pagemaker right now.

By Dwight Lillibridge (Nostromo) on Sunday, April 14, 2002 - 06:15 pm: Edit

pagemaker is what I use at work for my job, pretty nice to use, too bad it still is a pain on some things.

Progress update: We have reached page 100 on the "start at the front and fix everything as you go along" process for the third draft. That leaves 60 pages to finish, of which 23 (from Chapter 8) are done.

So in theory:

Chapter 0-6: done, page 1-100
Chapter 7: working on, probably 10-15 pages.
Chapter 8: 23 pages done, need to do the deck plans section but not until we know how everything else fits.
Chapter 9: working on, probably 10-20 pages.
Chapter 10: Gary is typing this up, probably about 6-10 pages.

That adds up to:
100+10+24+10+6= 150
100+15+27+20+10=172

Of course, it WILL be exactly 160 pages. We're still a little curious about just exactly how big the last chapters are, but as we finish each one that gets nailed down.

By Gary Plana (Garyplana) on Monday, April 22, 2002 - 08:50 pm: Edit

Don't forget to reserve 2 pages for the Character Sheets.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, April 23, 2002 - 09:00 am: Edit

I counted them in the adventure. We'll see how it goes. Chapter 8 could be done in smaller type if necessary and a few pages of it (like deck plans) could be dumped if we end up high.

By Aaron Hendricks (Aar0n) on Wednesday, May 01, 2002 - 07:51 pm: Edit

hey, chapter 9 couldn't be that much of a mess. You sent it to me 4 months ago and it was a pretty good trimmed down version of GURPS space.

If the ships were balanced and the weapons where balanced, then....hmmmm. is that the problem?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Thursday, May 02, 2002 - 12:59 am: Edit

Nah, nine is finished except for the stuff Aaron hasn't sent me (3 numbers for one ship, and one new ship). The messy part was dealing with the last report from Jayson, as I couldn't understand most of the codewords.

Hey there

I was a first round playtester, just checking to see how the progress is coming. :)

Hey Steve, hey Gary.

Hito everyone else :)

Is there going to be any sort of formal playtesting for G:PR, did I miss the boat already, or is it being done strictly in-house?

What is G:PR?

By Nick Blank (Nickb) on Monday, May 06, 2002 - 04:48 pm: Edit

I assume then the final version I sent of the Free Trader made it through e-mail intact and usable? I guess it did or I would be hearing about it. :)

Musn't... watch... other... screens while... writing...

GURPS: Prime Directive.

Usually G:PD, but on my keyboard, it's apparently G:PR.

GURPS: Public Relations! The exciting game of spinning government scandals and coverups into easily swallowed tablets for the American Public! Make Enron look like a merger! Drill into Alaska without the public outcry! Elect a president without counting all the votes!

No, really, I meant:

MJF: Playtesting for GPD started last July and has involved about three dozen people, a few hundred reports, a couple of thousand line items, and about 10 months.

BTW: when you finish GPR, I want to play it.

Nick; I haven't tried to unzip the file yet.

10 has been shortened, revised, and emailed to SVC.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, May 11, 2002 - 10:39 am: Edit

PROGRESS TO REPORT:

0-6: Sent to Robert, reports received, waiting on Gary to finalize a few items.

7: final revisions done after Robert's report.

8: "done" but may be expanded or contracted to balance the page count.

9: Sent to Robert, Aaron, and Gary on Friday night.

10: Gary just sent this, let me see if the file will open.... ok, it does. I'm not sure why I have two identical copies, but we'll see.

By Gary Plana (Garyplana) on Saturday, May 11, 2002 - 11:19 am: Edit

I sent it twice by accident. I'm in the process of shifting from Eudora to Outlook 2002 and I don't have things configured right just yet.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, May 11, 2002 - 11:41 am: Edit

I am going to send chapter 10 to a few people to read and tell me if it's all there. I can't say that I'd be able to tell.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, May 11, 2002 - 11:48 am: Edit

Hmm... It's not that big... Gary, do you think I should post it to this topic?

By Christopher E. Fant (Cfant) on Saturday, May 11, 2002 - 11:49 am: Edit

So things are getting close? Y'all excited?

PROGRESS REPORT: DETAILS

Chapter 0: finished, although we may want to check the playtester list one last time.

Chapter 1: finished.

Chapter 2: numerous small details to work out in the formatting.

Chapter 3: Asked Gary for two items; still discussing the gluttony thing for military personnel.

Chapter 4: Asked Gary for five items.

Chapter 5: Finished.

Chapter 6: Done (although there is a discussion about point costs for medals that might get booted into MP-A.

Chapter 7: I sent this out, got back comments, and have a "marked up copy" showing things I need to fix, but I haven't fixed them yet.

Chapter 8: Done except for inserting the deck plans and some of the graphics.

Chapter 9: I just emailed this to the gang Friday night.

Chapter 10: I just emailed a text version to several people. Shouldn't take but a couple of hours to get it into pagemaker and do the graphics after I get comments. I'm not accusing Gary of anything, but I honestly haven't got any way to tell if it's all here or pieces are missing, so I asked for some reviews.

By Nick Blank (Nickb) on Saturday, May 11, 2002 - 05:50 pm: Edit

I sent back a report on the adventure, just to note here, I was only sent Map#2 (the file was labeled Map#1 though), so I have seen Map#2 but not Map#1 of the adventure.
