One thing I've discovered is that most people have one or two systems that they will play; and for those people, those few systems are the best, most playable systems out there.
It's an opinion thing, really. If Icon works for you, go for it. If GURPS is more your speed, have fun with it.

The CODA Star Trek (Decipher's out of print Star Trek RPG) fanzine "Beyond the Final Frontier"'s latest issue converts quite a few Star Fleet Battles ship systems into systems for CODA's own starship rules system.
I downloaded the fanzine here: http://strpg.patrickgoodman.org/documents/BTFF_10.pdf
Personally I don't know why anybody would want to play an RPG set in the Star Fleet Universe using the CODA rules, but if you do, I guess things just a little bit easier.

Hmmm, is that stuff used with permission? There is ADB copyrighted material there and I don't see any ADB acknowledgement.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 - 10:30 am: Edit |
ADB has never heard of it, and is very concerned.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 - 10:32 am: Edit |
Somebody get me an Email address for these guys. This is a serious copyright violation.
By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Thursday, May 29, 2008 - 08:11 pm: Edit |
I had a nice chat with Patrick Goodman, who hosts but doens't run the zine. He's passing my Email to the writers. We're going to offer to retroactively give them permission in trade for some advertising.

SVC/SPP/anyone at ADB: I'm about to order what is available for PD1 for background and I was wondering if there is some PD1 stuff not on the cart?
I would like to get as compleate a collection from ADB as I can before going to ebay.

We are out of those PD1 items not on the cart, which is why they are not on the cart, but it's always good to check.
I don't think we even have electronic copies but once we hire Matt 2.0 we can set his hand to the task of making scanned copies.

Good to know!
Order on the way once I get home this evening.

Patrick Dillman,
e-mail me a list and I'll check for those items you want at my FLGS, which has some PD1 items. However, they will cost full original price.
By Patrick H. Dillman (Patrick) on Friday, August 22, 2008 - 10:27 am: Edit |
Due to an unforseen expense, I'll have to hold off on the order to just after the first of the month. But I will be ordering.
Loren or any one that knows, I actually don't know what all PD1 stuff was ever released, so maybe a pointer to a list would be nice.

Patrick, this is the list I use: http://www.starfleetgames.com/prod_update.shtml
Scroll down and you'll find PD1 and its associated products.

If you are planning ahead for e23 purchases, SVC wrote: Leanna today scheduled that the five PD1 products will be uploaded one per month over the next five months.

Will the PD1 books go to DriveThru RPG as well as e23?
By Terry O'Carroll (Terryoc) on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 - 12:55 pm: Edit |
IIRC only D20 prime directive material goes on DTRPG.

How much will they cost apiece?
By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Monday, July 30, 2012 - 03:12 pm: Edit |
Michael, I don't know. That is a decision that Leanna will make.

Noting that Jean posted a link to PDOne on DTRPG... here is where she posted it (on the fed commander board PD area)

and here is the link to the PD1 Core: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/104838/PD-One%3A-Prime-Directive-Core-Book-1993

Prime Directive fans, here's another long out-of-print book to add to your e-collection. The Federation Sourcebook is chock full of history and information about this popular empire.
http://e23.sjgames.com/item.html?id=ADB5811
The original Prime Directive (called Prime Directive One by some) expanded its horizons with this sourcebook. New character types, new skills, more equipment, new species, and lots of information, especially about the Vulcans and their psionic skills and disciplines. There's even a rundown of the important crew members aboard the USS Agincourt in Y172. You will need a copy of the Prime Directive Rulebook if you want to play the game, but there's lots to be learned about the Star Fleet Universe by simply browsing.

The Federation Sourcebook for PD1 is now available via DriveThru RPG: http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/product/106411/PD-One%3A-Federation-Sourcebook-1994

Empire?? We're a "peaceful" federation of like-minded races....

Uprising! is now available on e23. Do you need an RPG fix? How about an adventure from the original Prime Directive? Uprising! is a multi-layered adventure and introduced the Prellarians. This module has been out of print for years, but you can now have it through e23.
The module also included the first glimpse of the Orion Skimmers -- Orions who are living on the edge of society, but not part of any pirate cartel. Can your Prime Team survive on Debrock, let alone accomplish your mission where all is not as it seems?
