Mark, check the new site in a few days and look for the starline 2400 product information page which is supposed to have a link to your email. You might want to make sure it works.

Mark --

Some ppl permanently mount their minis on the stands -- was thinking (with the two piece flat stands), how they might look with racial/fleet markings placed on them --
Probably easier with rub on decals, if you have ever worked with them --- Since a hole would have to be cut into the center of the decal to get over the rod on the stand --

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Monday, October 09, 2006 - 02:51 pm: Edit

After such a decal is applied it should be little trouble poking the stand through the hole.

A line of custom stand decals would be neat. I would certainly pick up a bunch of those when the time came.

By Mark S. Hoyle (Bolo_Mk_Xl) on Monday, October 09, 2006 - 05:29 pm: Edit

The stand I refer to, the rod has a T-bar on it -- just poking it through will ruin a decal --

By Mark Tutton (Starfighterace) on Monday, October 09, 2006 - 06:01 pm: Edit

SVC, Will do!

Mark H. I could do that. How about a cardstock cover instead? Like the old Starline 2200 cover. I don't work with Dry Transfers. Nasty Chemicals are used to make that stuff.

By Mark S. Hoyle (Bolo_Mk_Xl) on Monday, October 09, 2006 - 07:15 pm: Edit

The thought just came to my mind the other day --
Personally, most of my mini's are on the Zocchi stands so that wouldnt work for me --
Though others, like Loren may like them --
Just put forth the issue to see what it would take to do them and see if there was an interest --

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Monday, October 09, 2006 - 07:47 pm: Edit

Mark,

might I suggest that you create a template for the various stand types (save for the Zocchi ones) and then allow custom orders for ship designations. Perhaps post a sample somewhere so people can see how its supposed to work.

I forget who but some one was posting ships in the contests with ship data on the stands and I looked really great.

Ship data I'd want would normally be at least the race (Fed, Klingon, Rom, Gorn, etc), a ship designation (like DNG) and a number (01, 04, ect but not the NCC number... usually). In some cases I'd like a ship name but that's a lot to fit.

Now, when do I find time to look over my minis. It's been so long since I've even looked at them and I've also bought so many since... I'm not sure of all that I have!

By Mark Tutton (Starfighterace) on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 - 09:10 am: Edit

Loren K: Aaron Staley(?) had me work up stand identifiers that work on the new style stands.

Mark S. I can do waterslide decals of the various races that would fit between the Zocci stand dividers. You would have to put a coat of Future or any other clear over the stand for the decal to adhear to the surface. Decals don't like bare plastic.

By Mark S. Hoyle (Bolo_Mk_Xl) on Tuesday, October 10, 2006 - 09:25 am: Edit

I dont think I could handle decaling 150 or so stands -- decals the main reason the few Feds I have arent done, just dont seem to get along with decals to well --
Guess I need more patience and additional practice with them --

I need to get a set (actually 2) of decals for a Heavy Cruiser: "NCC-1759", "U.S.S. ZINDAR" (from the Star Fleet Technical Manual (TO:01:04:11). Can anyone help???

By SSG Staley Aaron M. (Awwwdrat) on Saturday, December 30, 2006 - 09:56 pm: Edit

Yes, A Staley did ask and purchase stand IDs.

Mark Tutton, I need Fed CA combat circles. Need 20. Email me at aaron.m.staley@us.army.mil

I have some Federation decals that I'm not going to use. They are:

NCC 798 (DD not sure)
NCC 2125 (BB)
NCC 1663 (NCA)
NCC 1724 (CA)
NCC 705 (DW)
NCC 1761 (BC)

e=mail me at starfury_42@yahoo.com if interested; I'd like $15 for them and that includes shipping.

Mark do you have the Juggernaut Decals ready for ordering? (Sorry if I missed the memo).

By Paul Cordeiro (Ogoptimus) on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 - 05:53 pm: Edit

Does anyone have a CVO (or SCS(O)) decal set that they're willing to part with? Any name will do. I'm really looking for those larger red nacelles stripes, if anyone just has fragments.

[Replaced with new FAQ posted Tuesday, February 05, 2008 - 11:54 am; old FAQ deleted by request. J.Sexton]

By Loren Knight (Loren) on Monday, February 04, 2008 - 01:03 pm: Edit

It's amazing that a FAQ like that became necessary. It would never have crossed my mind to do any of those things. And yet, he we are.

Wow.

By Mark Tutton (Starfighterace) on Monday, February 04, 2008 - 02:41 pm: Edit

Yes, it is Loren. I spent 4 hours over the weekend answering at least 1 question in each of the topics above. That is typical weekend since I opened my web store. I spend about 30 min covering the rest of my decal line.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, February 04, 2008 - 03:12 pm: Edit

SFB players are certainly unique!

I don't know that I ever moved a goal post and am unsure what you mean, Mark. If you mean "artists doing product covers putting their own artistic spin on things" then you welcome to ingore it or use it or spin it your own way.

Mark is quite correct that nobody is supposed to be using Mark as a back door to get submissions approved. I note that Mark has never passed such things to me and I'd be annoyed if he did. Right now, I'm pretty annoyed people have been bothering him about that.

Mark is more religious that I am (although I'm more religious than many of you) and is welcome to refuse to do any ship name that he finds offensive. If I was at Origins and found ships with profanity on them, I would be shocked that Mark had done such things (and annoyed at players who asked him to, religious or not).

I should note that Mark and I long ago agreed that he could make names that are not on the official ship lists, but even that doens't force mark to make a name he finds offensive. I trust his judgement on this point, and would not overrule him, and wouldn't even expect him to run his decisions by me. He's a grownup and a businessman and he can decide what is offensive or reasonable.

I will happily post anything Mark wants and call it anything he likes. I'm not at all sure what is mislabeled or what the real label should be.

And, actually, the management has NEVER asked Mark to "not frequent the message boards". We have banned the posting of creationism in the dinosaur topic, but that's about the only time I have talked to Mark about his posts.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, February 04, 2008 - 03:14 pm: Edit

Mark: do you want your FAQ posted on the minis page here? Do do you want us to post a link to the copy on your site? It's a matter of how often you update it and whether you want to have to send us new copies any time you do.

By Will McCammon (Djdood) on Monday, February 04, 2008 - 05:26 pm: Edit

SVC -

One item that could be addressed; there's quite a few of Mark's decal placement guides that have never been posted to the website (Fed CL, etc.).

Mark states that his agreement prohibits posting them to his site, but if they aren't up on the ADB minis site then they just ain't available on the web.

This recently came up in the minis thread on the FedCom board.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Monday, February 04, 2008 - 08:14 pm: Edit

Do I have them? Not sure I do. If he sends them, I'll have Matt post them.

Mark says that it's the "management" of his house (his wife) and not the management of ADB that wants him to not spend time on the BBS.

By Mark Tutton (Starfighterace) on Tuesday, February 05, 2008 - 11:54 am: Edit

Due to the tremendous time it has taken away from my regular job of researching, producing and printing decals for Starfighter Decals, I am offering a F.A.Q for placing your orders thru my web site for the SFB/FEDCOM customers.

1. I only have the license to produce decals for the Star Fleet Universe. Please so not ask me to produce decals “exactly” like the TV or film versions of the famous ships the SFU is based on. I like my job and I want to keep it. Relenting to the constant requests would put that in serious jeopardy. That goes for any of the other popular starship based sci-fi programming, to include BSG, B-5, Stargate, etc.. I don’t have the license, don’t want the license, and I’m not going to get one either.

2. Custom Names/Numbers. I only accept custom names and Hull numbers for Federation ships. If you catch me in a good mood, I can do it for Klingons, Romulans, Gorns, Kzinti, Lyrans, Tholians, and ISC IF you are willing to pay for it and I have the time. 99% of the time I don’t. That’s why I don’t offer it on the web site, and not going to.

Custom Names for the Federation have the following criteria:

a) No off color names. U.S.S. Raging Hard-On, NCC-I694U, IKV Sh^tstorm, HMS Burp of Death all fit this description.

b) If the Hull numbers for the ship class is NCC-3XX please do not ask for NCC-3XXXXXX-D. Ask for NCC-324 or NCC-957. Otherwise you will incur a $50 per hour custom artwork charge. And I will take my time.

c) Make sure the name will fit on the ship you want it on. Asking for USS I am The Best Star Fleet Battles Player Ever simply will not fit on the Fed FF saucer. If you insist and complain you can’t read it, I will not refund your money.

3. When you place an order for Custom Names/Hull Numbers please let me know what they are. The Betazed left me for a Trill and the Vulcan is out sick, so I have no way of knowing what you want unless you tell me. Either E-mail me or put them in the notes section when you place your order. That’s why I paid for it to be there.

4. If you are not old enough to have a Pay Pal account or a Credit Card, do not use your friends/ parents/ buddies account to make your purchase. Get permission first!

5. I do not have permission to post the painting diagrams or the text placement guides for the decal sets. You can find them hear: http://www.starfleetgames.com/decals.shtml I do not why they are listed as Sample Decal Designs on the Starfleet Games Miniatures page, ask SVC. I will produce more color placement guides as time permits.

6. I do not sit around playing SFB or Federation Commander waiting for your orders. I don’t even own a copy of FedCom, so please don’t ask me about the game. I have most of the stuff related to the miniatures- Ship Name Lists, R-Modules, Captain’s Logs, Nexus Magazines, and Core Rules going back to the original Zip Lock Bag edition. Stuff needed for the research for the decals. I don’t have a clue how many Type IV drones a Kzinti DFF carries.

7. I will not be producing any more NEW decal sets for the Star Fleet Universe. I am tired of the moving goal posts (changing Insignia colors and styles, changes in ships class types using the same mini), poor quality of the miniatures (as compared to what I am use to), and the general lack of sales for anything that doesn’t have “FED” in front of it.

8. I do not have any special input to SVC about anything in the SFU. I don’t care how cool your Miniature/Rule/Ship is and that SVC rejected it. I can’t help you. That’s between you and him. Don’t drag my name in it please.

9. The “cool” gold colored Sensor/Scanner grids for the Fed Ships are only available on the Federation Commander Border Box sets. This is due how the Border Box sets are printed vs. the Regular Federation Decal Sets. I stopped printing the Fed Decal sheets with them last year. Unless the Kyoto Treaty that shut down the plant that produced the printing cartridges in Japan is suddenly revoked and production resumes, they will not return.

10. A la Carte decals are no longer available. Yes, I offered this service at one time. It was because I was bored playing SFB all the time (see number 6 above). If you want something I offered in the past and no longer see it listed, it’s because it’s no longer available! I’d love to go to my Local Ford Dealer and order a brand new 1970 Grabber Blue Boss 302 Mustang for $3500. Heck, I’ll take a Mach 1. But alas, they are no longer available, and so are a la carte decal sheets.

If you have any further questions on my products, contact me directly at starfighterdecals@verizon.net. I do not frequent the message boards by Starfighter Decals management’s request.

Webmom,

Please delete the first set of FAQ from Starfighter Decals dated Monday, February 04, 2008 - 12:08 pm. I had to make an update (already) and cleared up something that seemed to create some unessasary heartburn.

Mark and I have had some long chats this morning, and things should get better.

Matt already fixed the spelling of his name and the link to the placement guides, and Mark is going to send the rest of the placement guides to Matt.

Apparently, many moons ago, Mark sent me a bunch of stuff when I sent to Joe. Apparently, Joe did some of it right, some of it wrong, and meant to do the rest of it later but never got that far. Mark's requests for fixes, sent to Joe, didn't result in fixes, for reasons that are not clear.

But, as noted, Matt started making Mark's requested fixes within minutes of receiving them today.
