That's Jim Lewis.

He's an amazing master builder and painter. We loved his work so much that we use his photos on the Tenneshington website.

I bet that would work well for TA, maybe in FUD. Cool idea.

Hull colors? It looks like from artwork the Borak ships base hull color is shade of yellow. The Paravians appear to be a shade of gold. Juggernaut hulls appear White. Are their any other official sources for hull colors I might have missed?

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but I am looking for information. The Lyran fleet box art has a black and mostly red cruiser on it. I have looked at the Color Painting Guide for the Lyrans and nothing fits that particular color scheme. So I was wondering, what faction does that ship belong to?

I think that it is supposed to be the Dark Star clan, but the insignia differs a bit from the current style-guides:

Interesting, the info I find on Dark Star clan, is that they were light gray hull pre revolt and white hull after. At least according to the Lyran Master Starship book put out by ADB.

The Lyran had an expeditionary fleet of red ships with grey on the top. I think there was a more complete article was on CL #25.

Thanks Nick, that explains it. The Expeditionary Fleet or unit is known as the Fire Squadron and were sent to the Federation Boarder to help the Klingons. This is explained in the Lyran Painting Guide on page 35 of CL #25.

Thank you for digging out the correct answer, Nick.

I'm seeing conflicting data online: are Federation ships white, off-white, light grey, or silver???

The answer, of course, is "yes". ;)

In all seriousness, the hull color on the original studio model for NCC-1701 varied slightly between the pilot and series production.

Below are the colorimeter readings for the colors the Smithsonian staff uncovered during their sanding tests and other conservation work on the model. They are based on the nonproprietary L A B color space, which includes all perceptible colors. The LAB color space identifies colors through precise measures on three axes, in this case L (lightness), A (red-green), and B (yellow-blue).

Pilot Hull -- Blue-Gray; LAB: L 62.96 A -1.97 B -4.20, Approximate match: Sherwin Williams “Babbling Brooke” # HGSW 3364, Note: Actual match is slightly darker, and slightly less red.

Production Hull -- Gray-Green; LAB: L 64.45 A -3.53 B 2.40, Approximate match: Benjamin Moore “Heather Gray” # 2139-40, Note: Actual match is less green and less yellow (chip currently available from Benjamin Moore).
