Star Fleet Universe Discussion Board: Starline 2400 Miniatures: General Discussion: Archive through July 20, 2019

It's really a "whatever looks right to you" situation.

Drone hatch look and operation is going to vary between empires, types, and even one ship to another on the same class. Most classic trek and SFU hatches and ports assume some kind of armored cover flush with the hull (the tv ships are clean and fairly devoid of small details).

For decades, drone launch ports weren't really represented on the minis at all and the few cases that were each varied according to the sculptor's take on it.

For Starline 2500, there were some attempts to standardize. Federation drone ports are a tiny circular hatch, inside a rectangular raised boss. Klingon drone hatches are a circle either alone (if on a structure like the deckhouse) or on a square raised boss (if out on the hull).

The three circles on the front edge of most Fed saucers are usually identified as being associated to the targeting scanner array.

HDWs move forward: I got news today that the Kligon and Romulan HDW master mold came back sooner than expected.

Samples are supposed to be in the mail tomorrow.

Once approved, we'll order production molds, but it's unclear we could get them back in two weeks. Any longer and there will be a delay as the casting house shuts down for a three-week vacation.

Looking forward to seeing these in pewter.

Is there a list somewhere of the official ship hull colors?

By Nick Samaras (Koogie) on Saturday, June 02, 2018 - 02:07 pm: Edit

The paint guides are a good resource, the articles in Nexus and CL 17 if you can access them.

By Shawn Hantke (Shantke) on Saturday, June 02, 2018 - 02:59 pm: Edit

I have the paint guides but there are a ton of ships not covered by the paint guides.

Missing Peladine, Magellanics, Omega, Simulator, Borak, Nicozian, Triangulum, Paravian, Carnivon, Jindarian Metal Hulls and Borak.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, June 02, 2018 - 04:55 pm: Edit

Peladine: I can't say I remember but there was a painting guide.

Magellanics: I cannot say I remember any data. Until we do minis I'm not sure it matters.

Omega: 22 empires, I don't know that anything was ever defined.

Simulator: Look on the back cover for that C module.

Borak: I cannot say I remember any data. But then we have no minis yet.

Nicozian: I cannot say I remember any data. No minis yet.

Triangulum: Multiple emmpires. I cannot say I remember any data. No minis yet.

Paravian: Countersheet defines this.

Carnivon: Countersheet defines this.

Jindarian Metal Hulls: I cannot say I remember any data. No minis yet.

So Peladine are blue, Borak are Yellow NOPE, Nicozian are grey NADA, Carivon are tan, Paravians are Gold.

Baduvai are purple, Eneen are grey, Maghadim are green. NYET

Frax are grey, Brittanians/Hispanolians are brown, Sharkhunters are grey, Qaris are tan, Flivers light Blue, Barbarians are yellow, Triaxians are pink, Deltans are green, Canadi'ens are red, and 8th Air Force are Olive Drab.

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, June 02, 2018 - 11:59 pm: Edit

Shawn, you just posted a lot of fake news. I told you that Paravian and Carnivon colors are on the counters, but made no such comment about other empires (because their colors are NOT reflected on their counters).

The Borak are yellow on the cover of Module E4.

The Nicozian are grey on the cover of Module R107.

The Baduvai are purple, the Eneen are grey, and the Maghadim are green on the cover of Module C5.

There are some Omega ships on the five Omega Module covers.

Somewhere a Triangulum color cover might exist.

Are any of the colors on those covers official?

I got the Simulator colors from the back cover of Module C4. I assumed the Hipanolian wooden ship would be the same color as the Brittanians ship. I also assumed that the 8th Air Force ships would be the same color as the color pics I could find of WWII bombers.

By Shawn Hantke (Shantke) on Sunday, June 03, 2018 - 12:03 pm: Edit

Maesrons are red per Modules Omega 1 and 5.

Kolighar are Blue per Modules Omega 1 and 5.

Drex are Blue Grey per Module Omega 2.

Alunda are Yellow per Module Omega 2.

Ymatrian are Black per Module Omega 3.

Iridani are Blue per Module Omega 3.

Bolosco are Yellow per Module Omega 4.

Qixa are Grey per Module Omega 4.

Ryn are Grey per Module Omega 4.

Are any of the colors on those covers official?

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Sunday, June 03, 2018 - 03:26 pm: Edit

If it's on a cover, I'm guessing it must be official. You have no further need of my input, indeed, never needed to even ask your question here. Next time you post data, include the source instead of letting us guess you made it up and used the wrong source.

By Shawn Hantke (Shantke) on Sunday, June 03, 2018 - 07:24 pm: Edit

Uthiki and Jumokians, no clue.

Trobin, Vari, Probr, Chlorophon, Hivers, Sigvirion, Loriyill, Souldra, Worb and Singer no clue.

FRA assume they painted the ships the same as they were before the wormhole??????

Branthadon, the dragon on the cover of Omega 4 is green. Maybe they paint the ship (module? backpack?) the same as the dragon it is on?????

I've posted this in the SL2500, Shapeways and Fedeation Commander forums. The company Corsec Engineering is closing down. :(

Well, did anyone else place a last-week order at CorSec Engineering? I did. Its been a while and I haven't gotten my order yet. Tried contacting through the site and haven't heard back. I guess he's going through all the orders that might have come in because of shutting down. Just wondering if anyone has gotten their orders yet that they may have placed before the store shutting down.

Are the classic Zocchi plastic Federation ships currently sold out?

I went to share a listing for them from the ADB store and they are not currently showing up.

By Jean Sexton (Jsexton) on Sunday, July 07, 2019 - 09:35 pm: Edit

I believe they are sold out.

By Garth L. Getgen (Sgt_G) on Saturday, July 20, 2019 - 09:36 pm: Edit

Question posted to Trek-BBS: What ever happed to the Zocci molds to the old plastic ships? They still exist?

My follow-up question: if the molds still exist, will ADB ever sell the plastic minis again?

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Garth L. Getgen

By Steve Cole (Stevecole) on Saturday, July 20, 2019 - 10:23 pm: Edit

The molds still exist. Zocchi offered to sell them to me but I declined since the minimum production run was about 700 years of sales. We could buy a few from Lou now but we were selling less than ten sets a year so we made a command decision to drop them from the line. Just not worth the bother.
