F&E Strategy of the Month Continued

SPECIAL MISSIONS SHIPS ARE SPECIAL

The keys to the use of massed Special Mission Ships are rules (539.125), (539.225), and (539.325). In part, these state that these small ships do not count against the Strategic Movement limits of any races that the ship(s) utilize. Therefore, these small units are ideal for transporting economic points between allies. For example, the Klingons and Lyrans start with a total of ten APTs and PTRs between them. After all fleets are released, these ships can take the place of a valuable tug or LTT in transferring money between the Coalition partners. In addition, this also frees up a valuable Strategic Movement slot for other, combat-oriented, uses. The Alliance can obviously use them this way as well, easing the burden on the strategic networks and rare tugs and LTTs.
