The battle between the TSE and the Federation continues, the 2nd engagement happens Friday Evening. Victory for the Federation allows the Federation to stay unified on it's current policies and approach, defeat could spell the harbinger for the Federation as it is known in the Campaign. The order of battle for this was posted on page 14. I will apprise you of the outcome Friday evening.

thanks:

PM

Ditto to what Starnite says, and to boot I am adding information to my own non-linear campaign. I think the fact that this thread has more than 20,000 views and 200+ comments speaks to it's appeal and application to the game.

Please keep it going!

Well the last battle is concluded for Turn 10 of the Empire Campaign:

we fought this battle on 20 map panels 4x5, there was one asteroid panel on the far right of the borad where the Federation/alliance fleet deployed and where the TSE deployed there was a Planet that was surrounded by a Tholian globular web. the web was strength 140 and was supplied by a web tender. This was an arrnagement made on turn 9 between the Tholians and the TSE as reparations for the suprise Tholian Attack on turn 7.

The Federation fleet consisted of
1xCC, 2xDW, 1XSeltorian NCA, 1xSeltorian CL, 1XOrion BR, 1XOrion CR, 1XOrion LR.

The TSE Fleet consisted of
1XDN,1XCC,1XNCA,2XNCL,1XKzinti DW.

the battle started at 8pm and ran until 2am

The Results:

The TSE won this battle but at cost, they forced the Federation out of this level 6 system, the Fedeartion lost thier CC, and the orions lost thier CR.

The TSE hoever lost the DN.

In game terms though, the Federation has lost in this war both of thier only two command vessels. ( thier BCG and the CC) plus an NCL and the Orions lost the CR,

The TSE loss is the DN

It was a great battle. The TSE realized that holding the WEB position was going to be bad with the Seltorian Ships, and they would lose manuevering. so they issued threeof thier ships out of the web at fast speed to harras the federation/alliance fleet. they did this well, drawing the enemy down and to the side of the web, at this point hte TSE DN and the heavy ships emerged and began to battle, it was a quick and bloody work once all the ships came close together. Once the dust settled two things happened, with the loss of the Federation CC, the federation fleet disintegrated, they had thier comand rating lowered and 1 of the DW had to disengage automaticall, the remaining fleet would have been destroyed by the TSE, so the Federation which was moving at speed 24, also then HET'd and left the map.

The suprise arrival of the Orion LR, (using fast warp power doubling warp engines, this whip was based on the TSE Border)did nothing to help the Federation.

Well on to turn 11!!

Rear Admiral Jeck' Aginasur of the TSE watched intently for the first signs of the Federation/Alliance incursion. The orders from the Empire were vague on this, We must hold the system, but we are not to fight to the death?

His flagship the ISS Golgotha a massive Dreadnaught and the former flagship of the fleet unti lthe construction of the Battleship Hades. Was the largest vessel of the TSE fleet of 6 ships of his fleet, he also had the Command Cruiser ISS Armageddon with Fleet Commodore Jax Kiel, an Andorian and a very capable flag officer. the Fleet lay in orbit around the newly discovered planet Maelstrom Prime, a Huge world of volancos and magma, full of mineral wealth bu thte ambient temperatur of the surface was in excess of 400 degrees.

Maelstrom Prime floated in the protective sphere of a Tholian Web, the protective barrier a bargaining chip on the political table of the Imperial Diplimatic corp (the Jiradar) and a Tholian Web Tender was sitting within the web providing power for the barrier.

The Admiral had drawn the fleet up inside the tholian web to await the alliance fleet and then to determine his strategy after the Federation had deployed and began to move......

Commodore Illian Thorn of the USS Scorpion a Command Cruiser and curenlty the last remaining large crsuiser in the Federation waited and watched the screen as the Federation fleet came out of the warp. His motley collection of alliance ships consisted of his own Command Cruiser and 2 war destroyers. The communications station was picking up the battle code of the The two Seltorian Federation ships one of which was a massive NCA, the other a CL. then there were the mercenaries paid for by Romulan Blood money the Orions had brought 3 ships a Battleraider a raider and a light raider. these ships were directly from the Orion main home system and were the pride of thier cartel.

To be continued..................

Admiral Aginasur, turned to the communications office, "open a hailing channel to the Federation ship......." the screen flashed then cyrstalized into the image of the Bridge of teh USS Scorpion and to the image of teh federation commodore, sitting in the command chair on the flag bridge. The Admiral knew that the Operations bridge where the ships captain and crew sat was the heart of the ship, but the flag bridge was the command an control center for the Federation attack fleet. Here the most sophisticated of tracking, communication and mapping systems were located, with enough horsepower to keep up to 6 other vessles in sync and operating together in the vast expanse of space.

The Commodore sat back, knuckling his chin while the other arm rested on the arm of his commodores chair, Commodore Thorn was no expert on the TSE, he had not faced them directly, though Starfleets S.T.A.B (Strategies Tactics and Behaviors) had drawn up comprehensive models on the TSE attack and defense strategies.

The TSE Admirals last words to the Commodore was " the will be no quarter asked, none given your lives and your ships are forfeit prepare to die" With that said the Commodore sent to the fleet the red signal to prepare for iminent action. the Two Federation Seltorian Ships took up a flank position thier role was to destory the Web that protected Maelstrom Prime, while the other three federation ships and the Orion Pirate mercanaries moved in a double line towards the TSE fleet from the flank.

to be continued....

How do your TSE ships differ from your regular Federation ships?

Currently the TSE is using a half & half mix of Photon Torpedoes and Particle Beam Cannons. There has been much debate over the relative weakness of the Particle Beam Sad , but the research rule can give them the option of trading up to a stronger weapon. Twisted Evil

I ran the Federation fleet with the Orion player running the Orion ships. After the battle I brought news of the TSE dreadnaught's demise to the TSE player (he could not attend the game that evening). The expected cursing never came. Instead he smiled and told me things went as he had expected and with the loss of the dreadnaught he was freed up to lay the keel for the second TSE battleship. The Klingons are looking forward to future combat with the TSE.

Sounds like you've got a great campaign going, And I like the I dea of Feds with Particle Cannons. Though the real feds are getting the benifit of particle cannons too (with the Seletorians joining them).
