Mark, I second pnuemonics request. I am getting better photos recently than I used to - but nothing that compares to those.
A few tips / suggestions on settings would be nice.
I also like the minis - especially the Fed FF's. That's a lot of detail for a small ship. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Nice!
The window decals really add to the look of the Kzinti ships, especially the tug.
I ordered some decals last summer, but I haven't had the time or the courage to apply them yet. I plan to make some time later in July to apply them on the ships I ordered them for. After I finish that project I plan to order some decals for my Kzinti and Lyran ships. |

Great decal work
I too was really impressed with your Fed FF's. The shadowing in the sheild grids is the best I've ever seen on that mini. I'm assuming that was a wash - very nicely done! |
Actually I use a pencil to do that. I sharpen it using sandpaper to get a really fine point. I like using a 3H to get the proper color. I have been experimenting with colored pencils on my other modeling projects and once I get the technique down pat, I'll do it on a mini so you all can see how it works. |

I use a cheap 4megapixel camera with an expensive photo studio set up. I purchaced a portable photo studio complete with lights and backrounds to photograph items for my web store. Most of what I have learned about taking photos is lighting is the most important factor. Not the amount, but how it's used. If you take your photos outdoors, that will solve most light problems. I also use a tripod to hold the camera. So once I set up everything, all I have to do is swap the minis around and click away. I use Picasa to edit my photos.
I hope that helps.
