(5L1)
Photon (FA)
Disruptor (FA)
Drone Rack (360 degree)
Fusion Beam (FA)
Hellbore (FA)
ESG (360 degree)
Phaser-1 (FA)
Phaser-G (FA)

There are other options listed for Pl-F's in wing mounts, ADD's in wing mounts, etc. - but they are in the same section of the rules.

Dang - DNordeen and I cross posted!

5L1 also states "or other weapons"

The vagueness of this statments leads me to beleive I can put all Plasma-Rs in my mounts if I want since a PL-R is "other weapons"

so I just need to calrify what "or other weapons" means exactly.

I'll have to search through all of the errata, but in SFB (and I'd hazard a guess that FC is similar), Orions can not use Pl-R, and can only use Pl-S if a single Pl-S is used in two adjacent option boxes.

You're right, they can't use Pl-R, nor can they use Phaser-4's on their bases. And doesn't their Hellbore need two adjacent centreline boxes too? I vaguely remember seeing something about that.... I could easily be mistaken, though.

I saw the "other weapons" and didn't think anything of it Embarassed I haven't seen any errata on it, but hopefully Mike West will spell that out for us...

Basically, you have two types of option mounts: WPN boxes and DRN boxes.

A WPN box may be any of the following:
Ph-1, Ph-G, Photon, Disruptor, Drone, Pl-F, Pl-D, Hellbore, Fusion.

A DRN box may be:
Drone (duh!), Ph-1, Pl-F, Pl-D.

Weapons that cannot be used:
Pl-R, Pl-S, Pl-G, PPD, ESG, Web/Snare, WC, WB/SC, PC.

I expect to see this all made much clearer when Orion Pirates is published. I am hopeful that a means to allow the use of Pl-S, Pl-G, and PPD will be worked out.

....actually, was it the PPD that needed two centerline boxes, not the Hellbore? Perhaps that was it. The ramblings of a deranged old duffer Laughing

The weapons that needed "adjacent centerline option mounts" are:
Pl-S, Pl-G, PPD, ESG.

Hellbores used only a center box, but could not be mounted in the wings.

Mike - the ESG is stated as allowed in [5L1] in the main rulebook [Rev. 4]. Is this a change, then?

I think Mike (correct me if I'm wrong Mike) is referring to what *needed* two adjacent spaces, i.e. in SFB. Orion Attack should hopefully formalise the "two-space weapons" rules, but for now anything that is allowed by (5L1) only requires a single WPN space. This would mean that an ESG is "single-space" in FC unless this is altered in FCOA. Note that at the moment, there is no official provision for the Orion to carry any plasma larger than F-type launchers. Again, hopefully FCOA will include rules for larger plasma launchers, but if not then you can experiment with it as it was in SFB anyway.

Also on the subject of what you can have in option mounts, (5L1) makes a note of the LR in Klingon Attack having extra "options" about what it can mount in its "DRN"/wing option mounts:

Plasma F (LP or RP)
Phaser 1 or G (LS or RS)
Anti-drone (360)
Disruptor (limited to range 15, both mounts FA o*r* one LF+L and the other RF+R)
Photons or fusion beams with the same arc options as disruptors

When FC: OA is released, (5L) is expanded into a 2-page section with a chart listing every ship, every option mount on that ship, and what can be placed in said option mount.

That'll be pretty useful. It will be nice to have a "ready reference" type thing that will quickly tell you what you can and can't have on your ship.
