Their dialogue mentioned that they were from the Andromeda Galaxy, iirc.
In the Starfleet Universe, no one knows what an Andromedan is. The "marines" that the Andromedans use to initiate and defend against boarding actions are robotic, with a wide variety of shapes and sizes (so you can't point to one and say, "An Andromedan must look vaguely like that since all of their robots follow that general design."). There is only one known individual who has ever seen an Andromedan and lived, and it was a Starfleet Marine who doesn't remember the experience.
So the Andromedans might be the Kelvins (the mission of the Kelvins could easily fit within the overarching Andromedan strategy). Or they might not be.
We don't really know. |

Not to be persnickety, but the Andromeda galaxy is slightly larger than our own Milky Way but Andromeda is 2.52 Million Light years from us or about 25 times the diameter of the Milky Way itself.
That's a huge number... and it's a distance with very little in it. Almost no stars or other objects that could be used for re-supply along the way. The logistics for an invasion would be staggering.
One would think that the Andromedans would have completely dominated their own entire galaxy before attacking ours.
Of course, Federation intelligence only knows that the Andromedans arrived from the direction of Andromeda. They don't know if they conquered Andromedan from another more distant galaxy of origin.
Also, in the episode a "Rose by Any Other Name", the Andromedans claimed that they had created human bodies to inhabit, because the Enterprise couldn't be controlled by Andromedans in their natural form. |

And... to add fuel to the fire... The LMC is on one side of the Milky Way Galaxy and Andromeda is on the far side.
Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.
So, the Andromedans would have to have gone completely around the Milky Way to get to the LMC. |

Or found a stable, wormhole that goes from Andromeda to LMC... then it's just a jump to the... Milky Way! _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Dam those pesky worm holes.
Sadly, the TOS episode showed the Enterprise going directly to Andromeda at high warp speed. They said the trip would take 300 years.
Guess they forgot such things as fuel consumption...
LOL, oh well. |
