Yesterday I was commanding the NCL Alabama, escorting one large and one small freighter, when we were attacked by a Klingon D6 tasked to capture or destroy the freighters' cargo. Fortunately, the D6's overloaded disruptors missed on three separate volleys, sparing the NCA much damage; however, the Klingon drones were devastating to the small freighter. The freighter destroyed the first drone targeted on it, but other attacks were very damaging.
The NCL managed to hit with photons and phasers on its attacks, virtually destroying the D6 (all internals destroyed except Bridge) while suffering only a few internals. Since the rules preclude ramming or self-destructing a manned ship (options my Klingon opponent would have exercised if available), I considered it a tactical disengagement. The small freighter was wrecked as well, with all cargo and internals destroyed except Bridge. The large freighter suffered light damage with all cargo intact.
The game lasted five turns, iirc. Since I lost the small freighter's cargo under my protection, I would score it as a marginal victory for the NCL. _________________ "His pattern indicates two-dimensional thinking."

Thanks for sharing this with us. Sounds like the D6 really got unlucky with his die rolls! Sometimes that can be really annoying as you keep wondering how it might have turned out if you'd all rolled about average dice, so that the winning factors were tactical rather than just chance.
At any rate, I don't envy the D6 since I would think twice about taking one of those up against an NCL in a straight duel, let alone against Feds defending a convoy. The Feds are quite effective in convoy protection, since the necessity for the attackers to get close and do damage to the freighters before they get away pretty much forces you to within effective torpedo range of the escort, who by the nature of the scenario is unlikely to be getting hit heavily back since the attacker is shooting at the freighters... |

Yes, I got lucky with my friend rolling sixes on his overloaded disruptor attacks. _________________ "His pattern indicates two-dimensional thinking."

I'm surprised drones got through against the freighters though. Or did the Fed forget to reserve some of the NCL's phasers to shoot them down? (or was the Klingon too close to allow the other ships to help out) The D6 only has what, 1 or 2 drone launchers. |

Did the D6 close with you? A D6 should definitely not close with a Fed NCL. The D6 would have to use finesse to have a chance. _________________ "In Klingon Empire, drone launches you!"

You could have invited the Klingon survivors to your ship as 'guests'.

I thought about sending Marines over, but my transporter had been hit and we didn't continue the game so that I could repair it. Just as well it was over while I was somewhat ahead _________________ "His pattern indicates two-dimensional thinking."

Then they [the survivors] have only themselves to blame.... _________________
