Hello all Smile

Ive been quiet for a while life kinda went a bit hectic like it can do at times but this last month things seem to have calmed down so im looking back at getting these models completed.

I havent had chance to paint anymore or even do the highlights on my Klingons as yet but i was reading about these teeny tiny magnets you can get and was wondering if anyone uses them, and if so what size do you use? Im assuming something 2mm dia and 2mm thick, but i could be wrong.

If anyone can let me know there thoughts id appreciate it and also a cheap uk source for them.

Thanks and hello again all.
Zero.

I've heard about some folks doing that, using the "rare earth" super magnets, IIRC. I think John Schneder's group uses them?

I use the Magnetic Adapters from Ninja Magic.

I've tried modding my own bases with the same type of magnets purchased from a hobby store but never had much luck with it.

Ninja Magic would be good for those as well as drone counters plus others. Problem is, I dont think the business is active.

Has anyone purchased anything from Ninja Magic recently?

The magnetic adapters always remind me of this article about making removable bases.

I use rare earth magnets for all of my basing. I started with my WW2 aircraft minis and continued the trend with my FC ships.

I cut the top pin off of the stand and superglue a rare earth magnet on the top. I then super glue a rare earth magnet to bottom of the miniature - generally where the hole for the stand pin is located.

I have purchased all of my magnet sets from this company - they have great prices and are easy to deal with...

I use this size: Dimension - Diameter 0.125"(3.2mm) x Thickness 0.063"(1.6mm)

Here is the direct link...

Keep in mind, if you are going to make stands that can be used with all of your miniatures, you will need to use the same polar side on each stand and each miniature. You can test this by lining up your magnets in a stack and pull them off in pairs for gluing.

Does this make sense?

This approach lets me use a handful of stands for all of my FC miniatures.

My last order was about a month ago but you dont order directly from NM, orders are handled by Rattlehead Games.
