Fed ships with a Plasma Torpedo bigger than F whatsoever in FC. If not, will there ever be, and are there any in SFB? _________________ "The good of the many outweighs the good of the few"

I assumed as much, as the Feds aren't big Plasma users, but just wanted to check. _________________ "The good of the many outweighs the good of the few"

After all, the F does stand for Federation. _________________ "His pattern indicates two-dimensional thinking."

My understanding was that it originally stood for "fighter", but the "stands for" names haven't been relevant in a long, long time. It's just a type-F nowadays. _________________

I always thought that "F" stood for FIXED. That refering to the stasis box the original Light Raider/Drug Runner used.

No, actually IIRC - "F" does stand for fixed.
Each of the Torpedo types originally designated a specific term:
R was for "R"omulan
G was for "G"orn
S was for "S"uperior, or improved
F was for "F"ixed
D was for "D"rone, since it was launched from a canister similar to a drone.
Tony, who still remembers why PFs were called PF to start with. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

I thought "S" originally stood for "Swivel"-mount (improving the launch-arc over the earlier "G" type).
Frankly, none of them stand for anything anymore. A plasma-F is just a plasma-F.

In my 20+ years of collecting SFU materials, I've never seen one mention of it meaning "fleet". Please direct us to where you are referencing that from. _________________

The Federation Commander Romulan Border Rulebook. No chapter and verse at the moment, its either in the index or the Plasma Torps section. _________________ "The good of the many outweighs the good of the few"

Original usage was Psuedo-Figher, later that was revised to Patrol Ship, Fast... _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro
