Hey Bob, awesome-I'm looking forwards to the shuttle/fighter decals!
To answer your question, some ships carried specific squadrons for a long time ie:the CVA Zhukov had F-14s from VF-55 and A-10s from VT-66 aboard during the "Pleiades Turkey Shoot" (SFB Historical Scenario SH17.0). As you can see, the Squadrons are sometimes listed in the Scenario descriptions, and sometimes they aren't.
Since, for right now all we have are F-18s, I would prefer "real" US Navy Squadrons and,if possible, symbols. After all, almost all Federation carriers and bases had F-18s. _________________ Please Captain, not in front of the Klingons. |

VF-103 (the current unit with the Jolly Rogers nickname) converted over to SuperHornets a while back. They have probably the best-known and most recognized hi-vis markings in Naval aviation history, excluding the Blue Angels.
Maybe some decals with the Jolly Rogers' distinctive black/yellow/skull-n-crossbones motif? _________________

Hi folks!
Can someone send me or post an image of the Lyran Fire Squadron insignia? I did a casual web search but couldn't find anything other than our references to it.
Also, I've fiished redesigning the oCA decals to match the new mini (since they're smaller, I'll add some new names, too).
Thanks!

Bob, I looked around and couldn't find a color reference to the Fire Squadron either, except the Lyran ship on Fed Com Booster 0.
Hmm, anybody got something better? _________________ Please Captain, not in front of the Klingons. |

Bob
I'm at school right now, but when I get home I'll go through my CapLogs to find that artical on Lyran markings I mentioned in the other thread. The piece has line drawings with color call outs.

Try Captain's Log #25, page 35.
It also has a couple of as-yet-unidentified Squadron emblems, but no word for now on what colours they should be, let alone what they were used for. _________________ FC Omega Discussion (v3)

Yes, CapLog 25.
The desrpition for the Fire Sqd. is:
"The ships had a red hull color except on the top, where the color was dark gray. The color bars were black. The symbol was a white cross on a red disk with a white dot in the center."
I hope that helps you.

Whoops!
That should say "... red dot..."
The roundel could also be described as a red dot centered between 4 equidistance points or teeth.

Thanks, folks! I'll put one together and post it here to see if everyone likes it. If so, it'll go on the Lyran strip.
I've finally set up my studio to start taking better pictures of my ships. I have updated my gallery (here: http://www.pomroyproductions.com/index.php?p=1_8_Gallery) to show new examples, including many with the new, smaller block lettering. The Feds also have several kitbashed ships (an early Miranda class GSC, and a diplomatic cruiser). They may not be up to the standards of many ships posted in these forums, but for me, they're pretty good.
I've also added several Romulan ships, and a Gorn CA with the new insignia, printed on white decal film. You'll see it is much improved.
Speaking of white decal film, I've found a new supplier I'll be testing soon. These should result in white decals that are easier to work with.
I'll also soon be releasing a series of new Kzinti markings for BB, DN, CVs, TTs, CAs, DDs, and various stripes. These will also be printed on white film. The current Kzinti strip will remain available.
Thanks!

Bob, you're almost there, but the cross should be a "Maltese"-style, if you take my meaning, and the Red DoT should be small enough to fit within the centre.
Hope this helps! _________________ Please Captain, not in front of the Klingons. |

Bob
My suggestion is to make the sidepieces shaped the same size as you made the claws on the Predator county markings, and the central dot 50% smaller. That would match what SVC had drawn in CapLog 25.
That being said, the marking on the CL shown on the Lyran fleet box is a little different. It is closer to Blood Star county. The central dot is in crosshairs, and is red. Next, the area between the dot and the ends of the crosshairs is white. Lastly, from the white edge to the encompassing border, that is red like the dot, the color appears to be silver. At least that's what I se with my poor eyes.

It might be me, but looks like the first one. Did you accidently select the wrong graphic?
