I've done a basic set of Federation Commander data files for the Army Builder utility program. They've been sent to Eric who will add them to the site for download in due course. Similar files for Klingon Armada are in the works.

For those of you who don't know what Army Builder is, it's a database/spreadsheet type utility for gamers who play miniatures based wargames like Warhammer. Imagine a database that lets you pick your ships (or units) for your fleet, customise them within the rules of the game, and calculates point costs and verifies the fleet composition for you. That's what AB does. You can download a demonstration copy from www.wolflair.com.

This is just the first iteration of the files, I'll add more data and functionality as I get more experience and skill with creating the files. In this version, there is no support as yet for the following:

Fleet scale point costs
Orion/WYN option mounts
Tholian Webcaster and WYN optional hellbore deployment restrictions
Tournament roster verification

I hope to have these features working in the next version(s). Would those of you who are interested please try the files and let me know about bugs in the files, and also what features you might like to see in the files.

Ultimately, I'd like to create a set of similar files for SFB which would let you create a legal S8.0 battleforce, selecting units based on year and other restrictions, configure drone loadouts and commander's option items, and print out the resulting roster in the correct Captain's Log format, and also give the user warnings about forgotten items like forgetting to upgrade drone speed... But that's YEARS away, if it ever can be done. Getting a really good set of data files for FC would be a good first step, however. What I learn here could be used for the larger project.
