I actually thought of this as a perfect D7F from Star Fleet Battles; a slimmed-down, faster version of the D7. The bigger engines, the slimmer hull...yup, perfect. Sweet little model from Gizmotron; almost no clean-up needed. Comments, as always, are most welcome.

too bad you can't soak it in water and shrink it down to 1:3788th.

Great job on painting it.

Lean and mean. I'm not usually one for green on Klingons, but as-always it's executed so well on yours.

Absolutely great.

The lighter green also looks very nice.

Hey Mike... I've wondered how big the 1"2500 ships are. Any chance at getting a single, overhead photo showing the 1:2500 D7 and a 1:3788 D7 together?

1/2500 is pretty big, by our standards. That's the scale of the Ertl/MPC/Polar-Lights 3-ship Enterprise model kit sets.

scoutdad,

I think it its almost twice as long as the ADB D-7 (the boom is long). I have a couple of them at the house. The width is not quiet as noticable. I believe if you altered the boom and engine lengths the size would be more comparable. When I get a chance I will take pics to show you.

Tony,

I would, but I don't have any smaller minis to take a pic of it with. I can tell you it's about twice as long, though. They work great for single-ship dueling, but for squadron or fleets, they're probably too big...unless you've built one hell of a big table to game on!

Thanks, Mike.

That's exactly the info I needed. I've had a couple of opportunities to get some of the 1:2500 stuff and have avoided doing so, since I'm too lazy to back-calculate the size differnce between the two scales.

I may pick up a couple to paint and posibly use for duels a our FLGS to drum up interest, but it certainly looks as if mixing the 1:2500 and the Starline stuff is out.

Thanks for the compliment, Wolverine.

1/2500 = 1.5152x the length of a 1/3788 model.

I once asked after the size of ADB's D7 and was told 57mm (2-1/4") for the old one and 48mm (1-7/8") long for the new one. Assuming a length of 228m, a 1/3788 mini should actually be 60mm (2-3/8") long. But considering the we're talking scales for starships in the huge expanse of space...

A 289m Connie should be 76mm (3") long in 1/3788 and 116mm (4.5") long in 1/2500.

I personally feel that 1/2500 is great for the classic duel and that 1/3788 should be for squadrons, but AoG (with B5W) and Mongoose (with ACTA) both used pretty large models for gaming Babylon 5. To each his own.
