Noble Knight Games is a good outfit. I've bought several things from them over the years and gotten excellent service. They are the best at packing things so they don't get damaged in shipment of anybody I've ever seen.
Just my unsolicited two cents' worth. _________________ "His pattern indicates two-dimensional thinking."

I keep telling you guys that the only reason Leanna hasn't started selling the reprints we already scanned is that nobody has asked her for them so she assumes nobody wants them. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

This was a gold mine post! Just ordered #1, 2, 3, 5 and 15! All five, including shipping was $34. They are listed as 'very good' to 'excellent' condition with the prices between $3.95 to the most expensive $7. I'll be checking back with this place. I've also gotten six CL's from Amazon, also for very good prices, similar to the prices listed above. Only drawback from Amazon is that each was from a different place so I had separate S&H for each. It was only about $3 for S&H, but with this place I paid $5.95 S&H for all five.
Many thanks. _________________ My other car is a D7 BattleCruiser. |

Well I'm impressed. I ordered those five CL's on Saturday after I saw this thread and they were waiting for me tonight (Monday) when I got home from work. Not bad for only $5.95 S&H. _________________ My other car is a D7 BattleCruiser. |

There is a place called American Science & Salvage (or something like that) which has a boatload of old CapLogs (11, 12, 13, 15, 16) which they sell in grab bags real cheap. If you're building a collection from scratch, I'd start with one or two of their bags. If somebody finds the site and the link, post it here. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Might be American Salvage & Surplus, or American Science and Surplus. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

I did the American Science & Surplus deal and actually got someone there to pick the ones I wanted. They are very helpful and will do just about anything to please you with the CLs. They also have PD Federation. I got all the different CLs they had to offer plus PD Fed for just a few bucks. On one of my trips to FermiLab near Chicago for research work I stopped by one of their site stores and they had a boatload of issues on hand. They are in pristine condition, too. _________________ Mike

I put a call into them today and asked if they can check to see which ones they currently have. They will hopefully get back with me tomorrow.
I see that ADB has a few B&W reprints available for $10. Any way that some sort of package could be put together that is mutually beneficial monetarily for both ADB and the customer? For example any five older issues for a package deal of X amount of dollars. Something that will compensate you for the time yet allow us to fill in our blanks without having to break the bank. $19 for a new CL once or twice a year isn't a problem. When you need a bunch of the older issues (such as I do getting back into the game after decades of being away from it) you really need to be cost conscious.
Just a thought... _________________ My other car is a D7 BattleCruiser. |

ADB doesn't have the ability to print the older issues ( before 18 ) since these were done when TFG still did the publishing. Leanna Cole is currently the person responsible for working on getting the high quality reprints done, or translating the old data files into newer compatible formats, but it takes A LOT of time and she has plenty of other things to work on to keep things running at ADB, and that make more money.
Though I can't speak persoanlly for SVC, I will say that his normal response (usually in regards to miniatures) is that ADB cannot offer bulk discounts since it would hurt brick and mortar store sales, and then stores would stop carrying ADB's products, which would hurt ADB a lot. _________________ O.G. As SVC noted above, nobody is emailing or calling Leanna and telling her they are interested in Captains Logs reprints, so she assumes no one is interested. _________________

They are currently offering issues #1 and #5. I don't know if additional issues under 18 are available, but at least some are accessible. _________________ My other car is a D7 BattleCruiser. |

This is the reason I posted here, to see if it was a possibility. And I fully understand that there are probably many more pressing projects for the good folks at ADB, and I appreciate their efforts. I also appreciate their need to make a profit, this is what keeps the doors open and food on the table. Having said that, I also need to point out that many of the older issues i.e. #18 - #23 are $14.95 with the price going up to $16.95 after that up to $19.95 for the most recent ones. As a person who played back in the 80's now coming back to the game 20+ years later, I simply can't afford to stock up on CL's at that price. $19.95 once or twice a year when a new issue comes out isn't a problem. Paying nearly that much for an issue (or issues) that are maybe a decade old or more gets expensive and is out of my budget. This is why I've sought the several avenues mentioned in this thread as well as Amazon. I've been fortunate to pay an around $3 - $7 dollars for most of the issues I've ordered so far. And these have been originals (not B&W) reprints in very good to excellent shape. Some still in wrapper and never read.
I can't see spending $10 for a B&W reprint to be completely honest, not when I can get a VG or EX condition original for $3 somewhere on the net. However, if ADB could put some sort of package deal together at a price that is comparable with what is already out there then that would be another avenue of income for them as well as another means of obtaining the product for us. Again, just thinking out loud here. It may not be worth ADB's time or effort from a financial standpoint. Or maybe it is? I don't know. So I figured it wouldn't hurt to mention what is available out there and if ADB could do something similar.

We cannot do package deals, on anything, ever. The stores get monumentally pissed off if manufacturers sell stuff for less than MSRP. Remember that 95% of retail stores a single mom & pop operations (usually pop, with mom having a real job that supports the family) and they take great offense at having manufacturers sell for less. It undercuts them.
If you can find a used copy of CL#1-CL#17 out there, do that. I have seen such issues go on Ebay for $5, and I have seen identical issues go for $45. Just depends on who is hunting on any given day.
Leanna actually has scans of all of the old back issues on her computer (wait, she might be missing one of them, but we have original computer files and hard copies of everything anyway). The problem was that the original plan was to turn the scans into 11x17 pages and print them for saddle stitch, which proved very very time-consuming. So the current plan is to whip up some kind of simple cardstock cover, print them out 11x17, and perfect bind them. Harder to bind them, but easier to print them.
For that matter, she has been known to print a random issue now and then for somebody who asked really nicely.
Every single staff meeting, we all go over the master "to do list" and "Reprint old CLs -- Leanna" is on that list. Leanna sometimes snarls and sometimes sighs when reminded. If everybody here who had ever asked for the issues had emailed her, she'd have made it a higher priority. If everyone one of you (whether you did it before or not) emailed her again TODAY (with a CC to me and to Support@StarFleetGames.com) it would surface at the staff meeting. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander
