This timeline is to help GM's in picking a time period and also to help them find information on famous ships and SFU characters for use as potential encounters and/or rumors.
Feel free to add to this if you like!
Y158 The F5 Vandal escorts a freighter through heavy type-III-XX cruise drone fire during the Klingo-Kzinti war. Keng is later promoted to be XO of the battlecruiser Pitiless. (SH4.0)
Y160 The USS Kongo is dispatched to prevent a meteor from destroying Pollux IX. The Klingon frigate Khedive is on the scene to complicate matters. The captain, Kremler, would later take command of the D6 Gnasher. (SH3.0)
Y161 Captain Philip Kosnett finds himself confronted by a D7 Battlecruiser while his warp engines were sabotaged. The USS Kongo narrowly escapes Commander Kagan's trap and is converted to a CC afterwards. (SH1.0)
Y166 Lieutenant Commander Ardak Kumerian of the frigate Vigilance destroys Attack Shuttle Group #26. He is promoted to command the D6 Battlecruiser Destruction. (SH5.0)
Y173 Commodore Anthony J Stocker surprises and nearly eradicates a Romulan task force. (SH2.0) |

Wow that is nice, Jean.
I should have googled for "star fleet universe timeline." At least I only did the SFB basic set...!
This is exactly what I needed to know:
Quote: | Y158 Fourth Klingon-Kzinti War begins. Citing their treaty, the Hydrans almost immediately launch an attack against the Klingon border squadrons.
The Lyrans join the Klingons in fighting Hydrans and Kzintis. This is known as the Four Powers War and is regarded as a prelude to the later General War. All previous wars had been small (mostly consisting of border raids) but new logistical systems developed in this war (notably the semi- portable “Mobile Base”) will make actual invasions of enemy territory possible. Fighters are deployed by the Kzintis in large numbers for the first time, establishing the concept of “attrition units” which make it possible to fight savage battles without losing quite so many ships that take years to build.
The Federation, anxious to reduce the threat posed by the Klingons, shifts fleet units to the Klingon border and discusses a limited action with the Organians to restore the balance of power. This is, however, a “hoax” intended to influence the Klingons to negotiate an immediate settlement to end the war, as the Federation would never consider military power as a solution to the problem. The plan backfires.
Y159 Klingon-Romulan Treaty of Smarba signed. Klingons begin supplying advanced technology to the Romulans, allowing the conversion of old Warbirds into War Eagles. These increase pressure on the Federation Border. The Federation transfers ships back from the Klingon border to the Romulan border. This allows the Klingons to transfer ships to fight the Kzintis. The Federation’s attempt to use the “threat of force” as a substitute for simple force has failed and planted the seeds
of the General War. |
So... Y160 is a pretty exciting year.
Federation ships are being pulled from the Klingon front in order to deal with the new Romulan War Eagles.
This means that the frontier areas on the Klingon/Federation borders are going to be experiencing especially interesting times.
The Federation is also being run by the idealists right now-- the ones that think that "war is not the answer." This will put the people that depend on the Feds for defense in a sticky situation... especially as the Klingons rattle their sabres. |
