Hi everyone, I just purchased F&E and I've been devouring the rulebook. However, I've either missed something or it hasn't been read by me yet: are the planet and sector names important to making sure the game runs smoothly?
In the chart book that comes in the box there are pages for the different faction capitals. For example: the Federation capital regions are listed out Earth System, Vulcan System, Rigel System and Andorian System. Within that breakdown are, as a further example, a box for a Major planet and a Minor planet in the Vulcan System.
So my question is this: How do I pinpoint the Vulcan System on the maps that came with the game, and do I need to know the names of the planets? I have noticed that on boardgamegeek.com there is a product listing for the uber-F&E map. (seen here: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/image/164517/federation-empire-large-scale-map?size=medium) There are named planets on the map. Am I missing out on something important? _________________

The names are mainly for reference to what happens to the planet and for "Historical" reference.
Some of them have been named for players that have contributed to the game in some fashion. _________________ Mike Curtis, FEAR, Copyright 2014 ADB, Inc.

Ah! Thanks, Mike. So it really has no real importance other than a bit of "color" for the game. I appreciate your help. _________________

Although... there is a small measure of satisfaction to be gained from being able to state (emphatically, I might add), 297 Klingon SEs [ship equivalents] are moving onto Hydramax... _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Although... Once ISC War is released, I can see just as many players enjoying setting up a Capital System Assault battle force over the minor planet, Thomasetta. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro
