I started pulling ships for Romulan ePack #1, which is to be "old series". I pulled the vulture, king eagle, war eagle, battle hawk, and snipe. That leaves one spot.

Options:

King Vulture, a new ship

Freight eagle, a new ship, good for campaigns, but basically a target.

BattleHawk Escort or Snipe Escort

Something I forgot....

Anybody got any ideas? (Mike, copy to other board please.)

Quick side note: Assuming the Vulture from Communique #11 is intended, it is the King Vulture. So that is likely not an option, as it is already included.

[disregard the below]
If "new" ships (those not already existing in SFB) are potentially in the running, than the previous suggestion of a non-mauler Falcon-hull ship might have merit. The question at that time was what to do with it.

I compared it to the "cruiser" version of the Hydran Pegasus, but there were issues with it ending up being too much just an "in-between" the War Eagle and Battlehawk.
[I was basing this on a mistaken assumption that the King Vulture was a new-to-the-SFU variant and that the door to similar ships was open (and this would be a way to sell Falcon-minis). I was wrong.]

It would be comparable to the Hydran Commando Cruiser and the Klingon Commando Cruiser.

When you remove those batteries, you have those big open spaces. Perfect for cargo and barracks for all those marines...I mean commandos.

I really dont think you will find a unique way to turn the Falcon into a war ship.

Do you think commandos go "commando"?

If you though that was bad....at least I left that penal ship topic alone.

King Vulture...

It's not very expensive, packs a heck of a wallop, and has good shields.
It's one of my favorite ships.

Guys,

Two things:
1) The Vulture from Communique #11 is the King Vulture. It is already in the pack.

2) This is not the time to design a completely new ship. This ship needs to exist, at least in SFB, and not be BoM.

I thought the ePacks were (initially at least) going to be new ships/variants that weren't already printed cards. KE, WE, BH & SN are. That changed?

Anyway, how about the 2x Pl-S rather than 1x Pl-R WE?

A number of us have previously asked that new ship cards (and ship cards that have previously only been made available in Captains's Log, Captain's Log Supplemental or Communique) not be introduced into e23 ship card packs that contain ships that already have laminated cards.

I make that request again. I have invested in every single Attack and Booster product produced except Booster Zero. It was a signficant investment ADB's products. I have no interest in purchasing e23 packs that contain ship cards that have already been produced in laminated form and would find it very disappointing to find new ship cards (or CL/CLS ship cards) being placed in those e23 packs. To be clear, I have no problem with the production of e23 packs for ship cards available in laminated form, I just do not want to see new ships (or CL/CLS ships) being placed in those packs.

There were numerous ideas about ship card packs.

It was always said that the laminated cards WOULD be in packs, and might or might not be mixed with non-laminated (Log and Comm) ships.

There are, simply put, not enough Romulan L (captain's log) and C (communique) ships to make a pack, and I'm simply not going to do a whole bunch of totally new ships for these. (Jean and I looked through the MSC the other night and very few empires have enough L or C ships to make a pack, so pretty much everybody is going to get laminated ships in their first pack.) [Caveat: some BoM ships are not counted as they cannot be used in non-BoM packs and no empire has enough ships floating around already done to make a BoM pack.)

So, the decision was made in the Romulan case to do three packs, one with Eagles, one with Kestrels, and one with Hawks. This is the first (Eagle) one. The next time the Roms come up in the sequence, they'll get six assorted KRs. The time after that, six assorted ABChawks.

Right now, I'm thinking either Queen Eagle or Battle Hawk Escort.

The problem being of course that for many possible types of ship its not economical to put them into a physical pack (see the problem with boosters 93, 94, 95), and yet, us players want more ships!

I can't myself see any problem with it; its an inexpensive and simple way of getting limited market ships out there that'll be helpful for scenarios and folks playing campaigns.

Steve, I am sorry, I do not feel this is completely correct.

Previously, after several folks raised the same concern I did, you stated on August 23rd:

Quote:
Regardless of what B2 cost, there is no way to sell it's cards for less than other card packs. YOU might say you'd not equate it, but virtually everyone in the real market will. So, it's $60 for six card packs, no matter what they are, new ships, communique/captlog ships, laminated ships, boosters, whatever.

As for the B-series "bonus cards" in the booster packs, those can never be sold individually or in a pack of "all B-series and nothing but B-series". I suspect they'll be only sold in packs of "cards already laminated for those who wanted to print their own."

So I suspect we'll have at least three series...

The six packs from Booster 2.

A series of packs of 12 ships from a single empire, all of them being ships which exist as laminated cards (and accepting that this series won't sell as well).

A series of packs of 12 ships from a single empire, including a mix of ships only in communique, only in captain's log, or done as new ships. Some of these packs will be borders of madness. The ships that might or might not eventually be in packs 93, 94, and 95 might or might not be mixed into these, but probably there won't be a pack of eight cards from booster 94.

It can be found about three-quarter of the way down the page at: http://www.starfleetgames.com/federation/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=3164&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45

I know this was not a commitment at that time from ADB to avoid mixing CL/CLS and new ship cards into e23 packs with laminated cards, but I suspect many of us were hopeful what you laid out at that time would come to be.

Regardless, I have reiterated my past request. I won't keep on harping on it and I'll let others that may have a concern speak for themselves in regard to this issue.

Yes, please don't mix. I would be far less inclined to get a pack that had some laminateds and some new. And since we're doing 6 ship packs now, it is easier to get "full" packs of new ship cards.

As I've previously stated, I'm happy to have laminated cards reprinted in ePacks. I haven't got many of the boosters as we play small battles so I don't need lots of cards. The only ones I have bought are ones where I really wanted the new ship.
Being able to print and laminate myself an extra WE (for example) rather than buy a booster with it in is a win.
Also, not having any Logs after #17 means any ships from there are good from my perspective.
Difficult spot for SVC. Whatever he does is going to annoy someone. I'm glad I don't have to deal with the public, customers and, worse, fans Wink in my day job.
