I have recently returned to the SFB verse after and absence of some years.

I am amazed at the depth of the universe and variety of games available. As ambassadors, we really need to share that the SFU is about having fun in a universe that starts with the old Star Trek universe then EXPANDS from there.

SFB continues to scare folks who are adverse to very detailed games, but Starmada and FC seem to be bringing new players in by droves. I am currently trying to organize a KA tourney at my FLGS in March.

I have been doing the same thing here at my FLGS. What have you found sucessful in getting people interested in the game system?

Most of the people here see WH40K (which I just offically retired from) with the table full of models. I go to the store with my three fully painted and decaled tabletop quality fleets (Fed, Klingon and Gorn) so they see a mixture of weapons, tactics and models. On top of that I use not only the offical card hex maps but a professionally airbrushed 4'x6' cloth starfield hex mat.

I guess the starfield and the paint fleets are what draw people in but it is the excitment of watching ships dodging plasma, transporters humming and the joy of a player when everything goes right in their plan and has the enemy 6 o'clock right in their alpha zone that keeps them around to learn.

Thanks for your work! While the Rangers are our hands-on demo team, the Ambassadors reach out to the people in the e-frontier who are interested, but may think there's no one to play with (FCOL is really cheap and the community is growing) or who may not realize that this "old game" is still alive and active. With such a small company, it's hard for us to reach out and when you do that for us, it is a help beyond all measure.

Just be sure to report your activities to me so you get the recognition you deserve. If you have a question about how to answer someone, let me know and we'll put our heads together so that your answer is the best one possible.

The painted minis are definitely the way to go and certainly draw more attention than the hex and counters. I am also working on showing the races that are not the usual Fed/Kling/Rom stuff. I fly Kzinti and I am working up a Tholian fleet. It also helps that there are a number of "generic" types in the RA book such as the "cutter". I have found use for several non starfleet minis filling in for these unsung little heros.

Please remember to do the forms to become official Rangers if you are doing demos. We want to recognize you and reward you for your hard work.

Everything you need is here: http://www.starfleetgames.com/rangers/index.shtml

Thanks for the work you've done already!

Can I demo any of the Star Fleet games under the Rangers Program, or is it solely focused on SFB/FC? I really like to show KA as its much easier to run.

It says any game, but email SVC and verify the KA proposal, please. When you have an official answer, I'd like to know, too. Very Happy

Not SVC Razz but, he has answered this.

Captian Log#42, Page 18, Bottom Right of Page in STAR FLEET RANGERS article.

"... You can do demos of Star Fleet Battles, Federation Commander, Federation and Empires, Star Fleet Battle Forces, Prime Directive (each published PD game system counts as a different game), or the SFU version of Starmada."
