I know that an ESG can be triggered to defend against Hellbore attacks. In that case the Hellbore auto-hits and the ESG points are subtracted from the Hellbore damage.
Two questions:
1) If the ESG produces more points than required to stop the Hellbore charge, what happens to the excess? Do they damage other objects in the same or adjacent hexes?
2) If the converse happens and the ESG produces less points than required to stop the Hellbore, do the excess Hellbore points auto-hit the ESG ship as they do in SFB? (I think this is called a 'Hellbore magnet'?) _________________

1) No.
2) Yes - the hellbores that were in the ESG'd volley (but not other hellbores from other ships) auto hit before you even work out what amount was actually stopped by the ESG. Fire 1 hellbore, me-to ESG, me-to fire the other 3 helbores from the same ship. Thats 4 auto hitting hellbores even if there was only enough ESG to stop the first one. |
