In ACtA B5, initiative was largely a reflection of an empire's technology (Which is why the Minbari got a high +4 rating) and their cohesion (so both the aggressive Drazi and the pacifist Pak'Ma'Ra got low ratings).
Everybody in the SFU has a roughly similar level of technology, so initiative will probably based on each empire's perceived aggression, and how unified or divided they are. _________________ We are Hydrans! NO ONE LIKES US! |

Cool, the aggression factor was what I was thinking. Really sounds like this is shaping up well. |

One thought about the campaign rules.
Something that used to occur in ACtA B5 was that any battle was a disaster for the loser - and also the winner. Even large ships went down like ninepins,
and victorious fleets were often too weak for further use.
So a most effective strategy was to avoid battle, raid trade routes and wait until the other players had exhausted themselves, then mop up their stragglers with your still-intact fleet.
Basically, I'd suggest it would be a good thing if ships - everybody's ships - were made rather more survivable in ACtASF to make fighting campaign battles a more attractive option. _________________ We are Hydrans! NO ONE LIKES US! |

I actually sat down and read the entire ACTASF rulebook (Draft #1) over the weekend. Most of it I had no idea what was going on (having never played ACTA) but there was a lot of interesting stuff in there.
Some of it was obviously ported over from ACTANA, but that may just be preliminary playtest stuff. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

I'm guessing that the B10 would be a Armageddon pick then? |

I see. Having only played B5 and Order of Battle (the WW2 wet navy game), I did not know.

Here's a deal...
I'm willing to paint both a Starline 2500 Fed CA and a Klingon D7 for the first person to obtain one and ask. And to make it an extra sweet deal: You pay the shipping to me, and I'll pay the return shipping.
Unless Steve wants to have one of each painted for the cart. In which case he gets priority... _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro
