|
|
Greetings all, I recently purchased a Starline 2400 Kzinti Carrier Vessel Escort (CVE). Thats the package description. the package looked really old and the model has engines with rounded off (almost steamlined) engine nacells, unlike the rectangular ones on current Kzinti models. Even the satelite dishes and the drone booms have to be individually glued on. Its really cool model. I request aid finding an SSD for this vessel. I'll gladly buy whatever product of the Fed Commander line contains the SSD I need, but failing that can I at least get the stats I can use to create my own SSD. I assume that it will carry half the fighters of the Strike Carrier - 6 rather than 12 - and be based on a Heavy Cruiser hull (kinda like American CVL's and CVE's of WW2). But what about shields, weapons, hull etc. I'd need fleet and Squadron scale stats please. I'd like to use the ship as it's a very cool model. Its already built and painted.
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, cheers. _________________ If it flies and can fire a beam - I'll play it! |

The CVE does indeed carry 6 fighters.
The SSD can be found in the Star Fleet Battles, Advanced Missions SSD book.
It has not beed released for Federation Commander (no carriers have...) _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Scoutdad, thanks for the quick reply. 2 more questions please, for clarity.
Q1. Is the product title above the exact one I need IOT facilitate a search on the web and purchase the correct product?
I have downloaded the Fleet and Squadron SSD for the KZINTI STRIKE CARRIER from the Fed Com Resources page. Q2. Is this ship not allowed for use in this game? I have already bought built and painted the Fleet box set models and bought the rules set spefically because I was informed that K cats can field carriers and fighters. I hope I haven't jumped and plumped for a game and not be able to field the models. That would be bad right? Oops, 3 questions. Awaiting your reply, Juan. _________________ If it flies and can fire a beam - I'll play it! |

1) The SSD module for Star Fleet Battles containing the Kzinti CVE can be found here! . But do be advised that it is for SFB, not Federation Commander.
2) At the current time, carriers do not officially exist in the Federation Commander system. the carrier rules / ship cards found in the Commander's Circle are for playtest purposes. Carriers will [hopefully] be a part of the Federation Commander: Borders of Madness product when it is released.
3) Nah... not bad. Anything that builds the ADB coffers so that they can continue to produce this and other games is a good thing!
Seriously though, We've used the playtest rules for carriers and fielded them in several battles and they are fun to use, so use the model.. .and have fun with it.
And provide ADB with playtest reports of your carrier battles so they can continue to refine the rules and get them out to the public that much sooner. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

I always wondered how they came up with "V" to indicate a carrier.
Now I know. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Moved to General, since that seems to be a better fit. _________________

Just a Heads up that is actually a Starline 2200 or 2300 Kit the 2400 I am pretty sure are all one piece casted. But you are right the Multipiece kits look better to me also. _________________ -Dal

I don't know about the Kzinti kit in question, but I have a fed CC and a Vudar heavy cruiser that are both for sure 2400 series that have to be assembled. The CC, a lot of assembly , the Vudar, I only have to glue on the center nacell. All the 2400's I've seen so far are pure wonderful! |

He has the old Starline 2200 kit. I don't remember how many pieces it was... but the ST2200 version of the Kzinti DN (called an SCS in that ine) was a whoppin' 14 pieces!!!
Rear Hull
Forward Hull
Left Sensor Dish
Right Sensor Dish
Left Front Pylon
Right Front Pylon
Left Warp Engine
Right Warp Engine
Left Rear Weapon Pylon
Right Rear Weapon Pylon
Left Forward Disruptor Mount
Right Forward Disruptor Mount
I don't remember the last two parts... but it was a B**CH to assemble, and then an even larger B**CH to keep assembled if you expected to use it in play. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Actually, I think the US Navy used V for aViation more adopting a French term. The problem was that 'A' stood for Armored, as in CA, Armored Cruiser. _________________ NOLI UMQUAM VIM TURBARUM STULTORUM DEPRETIARE.

The other two were the disruptor "hooks" on the front of the hull.
That was actually the original BC. The DN/SCS was different, and in some ways worse. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

The CVE is very similar to (ie uses the same miniature as) the Kzinti CL, which is in Federation Commander's Klingon Attack module. _________________ We are Hydrans! NO ONE LIKES US! |
