Now I am not as knowledgable as some of you so there is likely a simple answer to this but why are the three engines the same size for the new fast cruiser while they are not for the new heavy cruiser? |

The NCA and most of the variants use a frigate engine for the extra power. For the NCF, they slapped a full sized engine as the other two to get the extra warp power, but this was expensive and the ship had to be modified to handle the extra power, just as the CF did with the 'fast' warp engines.
And there is no problem asking questions. (And don't always take our answers as gospel.) _________________ NOLI UMQUAM VIM TURBARUM STULTORUM DEPRETIARE.

Indeed, ask-away. Lots of folks here love to talk about the ships, even though only stuff from ADB is gospel.
This same question came up on the legacy bbs and I gave my answer almost word-for-word matching Ravenhull's. _________________

yep, that's it.
When we design new ships we always try very hard to use existing engines. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Very sharp design on this one! These will look very good on the tabletop.
I think that the saucer panel lines might look better if they were parallel to the outer rim rather than the inner structure, but that's just my opinion. |

The Federation New Fast Cruiser (NCF) has been approved and we just want you to see that the changes were made. Saucer was made thicker, front phasers were rearranged, missing shuttle doors added. Sandrine decided not to change the pointedness of the saucer or the rings.
The album is here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150330709738280.362564.231728653279&type=3&l=e47233497d
Enjoy!
