I presume that someday we'll be able to buy single minis, yes? I would like to get a couple extra Police Cutters, for example.

This is as cool as getting the Wish Book when I was a kid! Now to go find some crayons and make out my Christmas list for my wife. Very Happy

Mongoose says that the $14.95 blister packs are one ship each except that some of the smallest ships (frigates) are two ships for that price.

Mongoose believes in having a fixed price point for all blisters; ADB calculates the price of blisters individually. Both systems have good and bad points.

Mostly, the Mongoose theory is that the squadron boxes and fleet boxes are pretty cool deals and that you should just buy those. They sell few blisters, and the high cost of manual labor to pack them and handle small orders means they cannot afford to sell them for less. (They would not break even on a CA at a price below $13 and need some profit after all.)

ADB sells most of its ships as blisters and with a higher volume (and a different philosphy) we price each ship by its cost.

I have to admit that I liked the original listings for the fleet boxes better, but that's likely because I just wanted more variety. I'm sure the new boxes are more "playable" fleets, but now that means I'll wind up with more duplicates than I originally wanted, and will have to order more blisters (unless they put in some kind of "reinforcement pack" that doesn't duplicate stuff from the fleet boxes).

I wish we could pick what ships we wanted for the boxed sets.

Each set being a certain number of ships for specific price.

For example, I'd rather have a C8, D7, FD7, D6, and F5 for my Squadron Box for $29.99; I like the C7 (great ship) but would rather have the FD7.

I'm sure this would probably be more of a PITA than ADB or Mongoose would rather deal with, but would be a cool option.

The ability to order a C8, D6, D5, 2 F5s and 2 F4s for the same cost as the original Squadron Box set ($29.99) would be great...especially as variants are (hopefully) produced.

Hell, add an additional $5.00 PITA...er...processing fee or something and I'd still go for it.

A C8 cost as much as two E4s correct?

A 5-ship bargain box perhaps?

The problem with "pick the ships you want" is the hand labor to do that. If you wanted "pick my five ships" the box would cost $70 due to the hand labor and packaging. Easier to just buy the blisters.

Once the game has been out for 6 months or so, there will probably be some trading activity going. I know I'll probably end up with dreadnoughts and fast cruiser duplicates and will be looking to trade them out for additional small ships, etc. That's how the metal mini community is and has been for ages.

So my idea of an extra 5-bucks to cover the cost just doesn't cut it...dang. Crying or Very sad

Ok, then how about just substituting a FD7 for a C7 when I order the Klingon Squadron box and CL44 in a few days? Very Happy < J O K E !>

I realized it would be a pain to do, but not a $40.00+ pain.

How about pick 5 blisters for $50.00 or something similar?

I'm guessing future variants like a D6D or D6M, D7D will be dependent on how well the initial minis sell?

Will the B10 cost 14.99?

Will it fit in a standard blister?

What other questions can I ask that aren't completely on topic?

Who likes cheese?

I know I'll will not be able to stop with just Klingons. After all we need someone to blow away...and I have to say, the Kzinti and Gorn ships really look good when painted. Shocked

Thanks for the info Steve.

And it figures djdood brings up a good point to completely invalidate my rantings while I was typing in addition to being interrupted by several phone calls prior to clicking the submit button! Laughing

@ Burning Chrome - I disrupt. It's what I do... Cool

@ Tony - I couldn't let Xander's fine work go unused. I'm quite flattered by the whole thing, actually.

Is the NCA coming out in Blister at some point down the road? I'm presuming that the CA in blister is the standard CA.

At this moment it looks like the only way to get 1 NCA is to buy the $100 set, is that correct? (I intend to buy one anyway... but I don't know if I can buy 2 or 3 @ $100 apiece and still remain married Very Happy)

The NCA is no longer in the $100 fleet box.
In fact, it's not (at this very moment in space and time) even possible to order or pre-order one.
But when it is available, you will be able to order it in individual blister packs.

It wouldn't shock me to see a second Fed fleet box, with a mix including the "war" era ships and some of the few not done yet (BB, HDW) down the road, someday, if we clamor for it and those "missing" ships get added to ACTA. At the minimum, those ships will show up due to the plan to match everything in Starline 2400.

I am quite pleased with the ships in the fleet boxes as they stand right now, especially the Fed box. It's a good mix of large and small hulls and allows for a much easier time to meet point-value targets for scenarios.
