|

Rule (8B2b), second to last paragraph: 'If two non-allied players each score damage....' it says that you '...divide the points received for damaging, crippling, or destroying the ship (or forcing it to disengage) by the number of points of internal damage each player scored'.
Does this mean that you divide the points received according to the proportion of damage points scored by each side?
By way of a real-life example, using the exact situation that prompted this question, we had a Klingon Q-ship and an F5 that blatted down (i.e. filled up) an Andro Cobra's rear PA panels and scored one measly internal damage point. Then, later in the turn, along came an Orion BR that fired through those same full panels and the Cobra blew up. Granted this is an extreme case but it really did happen and I feel it illustrates the question nicely - how should the points be shared in this case? _________________

It is effectively a proportion, but only for internal damage. So, yes, the Orion successfully cherry-picked, and the Klingons are screwed. _________________

But the Klingons did score just a single point of damage, which was still there as the Cobra blew up. Is it not only in the case of a captured ship where everyone else loses the points for their 'contribution' to the damage? _________________

Yes, the Klingon would get *some* points since they did score an internal. But, they get nothing for filling the panels. But, since the Orion did all but one point of the internals needed to pop the Cobra, the Orion gets the vast majority of the points. _________________

Cool, that's what I thought. So, let's say the Cobra has 50 internal boxes, including Frame and all PA panels (the latter of which are rarely all destroyed anyway)
The Klingons have disabled one of the 50 boxes on an 83-point ship which the Orions then destroy.
Do the Klingons then get 8 points (10% for scoring internal damage that is not repaired by the end of the scenario), or 1/50 of 8 points (i.e. none!) because of the proportions?
...and I suppose that the Orions get 83 points.....? _________________
