What is the effect to a ship if it moves into the same hex of a medium size or a large size asteroid?
And, is there any possibility a ship would miss hitting either of those types of asteroids if it moved into their hex?
This is NOT referring to the dust, regular, or heavy asteroid fields.
I've looked in the rules and cannot seem to find these two answers. _________________ Mike

The effect is...
Nothing.
Even the biggest asteroid is perhaps a few hundred kilometers across. Relative to the size of a hex, it's microscopic and impossible to crash into. Putting a large/medium asteroid in an empty hex doesn't have any effect on moving through the hex, it's still an empty hex. If the asteroid itself is somehow being moved, (this is typically not possible), and it moves into another unit's hex, no effect either.
Edited to add: The scenario the Coming of the Meteor has special rules about what happens if the meteor (an asteroid) moves into a ship's hex, but those rules apply ONLY to that scenario. _________________ "Captain" Terry O'Carroll, fourteen papers published including six best of issue

Ok, so, according to Terry, I could basically "make up" whatever effect I wanted for a ship colliding with a medium sized asteroid in a scenario.
I understand about the likelihood of hitting one being almost nil. _________________ Mike

The effect would be very bad. Like crashing into a planet bad. |

Not really. The only way to run into such an asteroid is to do so deliberately and that would mean catastrophic damage (total destruction of the ship). _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander
