Just on the off chance anyone here was wondering if I went and fell off a cliff or something (again)... No, still breathing and still working on minis, just not on my metal ones (currently).

I spent most of my free time since July (up until the middle of last month) doing intensive reviews and comments for the upcoming new Starline 2500 resin minis being done by Mongoose Games in joint-venture with ADB.

I did a boatload of sketches, drawings, rendering markups, and a few CAD models of my own, all of which took every bit of minis time available.

One ditty from that chunk of work:

Some of my comments for the Klingon E-4, pushing it to be different than just a (literally) scaled down F-5.

Mongoose chose to implement things a bit differently, but the E-4 ended up very much where I was trying to push it. It has a boom that is different than the F-5's; smaller, but with "sponsons" added to make its volume make sense. The ship also ended up with a much larger "deckhouse" than it originally was going to have, again making things like the volume of the shuttlebay make sense.

It was very fulfilling that my inputs were so well received by ADB and then incorporated into what Mongoose was doing.

I'm currently neck-deep in work for a SL2500-related project that is not disclosed yet.

Once that is completed, I'll re-start work on my metal minis (maybe even finish my HF5 and the Romulan ships I owe a client). Of course, that's also probably about the time I might be able to get some of the new resin ships on my workbench...

Nice to see more of your work Will.

Your drawings and models for 2500 were great. It's nice to have one of the super pay attention to detail guys giving input like that. I know I couldn't (re)produce drawings and models like that. Very nice work.

Can't wait to see what comes next.

It's the simple things in life sometimes that make me smile. Like finally figuring out how to wrap a link tag around an image tag in php so I could make the graphic in my auto-signature a hotlink. Cool

Something fun, from way back in September.

It seems so long-ago, now, but the very first thing I was doing to help Mongoose understand what was what with the SFU minis was put together these scale-comparison charts of the existing metal minis. These gave me a place to indicate existing scale problems, etc.

In some cases, I used these to do cleaner line-art versions that I'm hoping to get to use for something, someday, as I think they're quite spiffy (of course, I'm really into starship "blueprints", etc. and have been since the mid-80s).

Just got my latest order of Starline 2500 minis from ADB, and lo what do my eyes behold, but a metal Command Cruiser. That''s unexpected - I assumed the limited edition giveaway stuff like that one would stay resin. Intriguing!

Based on SVC's post on the legacy bbs today, it looks like I should get my workbanch set up again and get serious about finishing this mini:

Unless I change my mind and just do the thing in 3D CAD and have it grown in 3D printing, this will be a Klingon HF5 heavy war destroyer, for submission as a master. It's being built using similar techniques to my "sculpt" for the F5W war destroyer, but informed from lessons I learned in that build.

very cool, love the f5's one of my favorite klingon ships, nice to see a possible hf5 mini. if it gets released, i'll be ordering a dozen.

I'd been meaning to post some in-work pictures here for a long time, but doing the work has been taking priority.

I have several projects running for ADB (in-work pictures of which it is their decision to post, or not).

This one was for me (well, for Tony Thomas actually), a warm-up to get myself reacquainted with my software after many months away. This is an engine nacelle, inspired by the ones on Adam Turner's excellent CX CGI model.
