Thought I'd share some of the Fed ships I've been working on while I wait for SL2500 Kzinti to be released.
NCF-1682 Stinger:
NCL-1501 Reliant:
There is a second NCL, the Putah, that is not appearing at the moment because I have terrible photos of it. The 'shipyard' (as it were) has a BCG and DNG sitting on it being painted; it seems like two ships is about my limit when it comes to working on them simultaneously.
EDIT: Went and found a picture of the Reliant that wasn't as wide as house on a trailer... sorry about that guys.

Just saw this "show off" thread after I posted my Mobile Base in it's own thread. Here are a couple of the shots for showing off:

Wow, that base is incredible!
Are the banners and lettering hand-painted, or are they transfers? _________________ The Rowan

Jon -
See my comment in the other thread, if you would like assistance in making your existing photography usable for ADB/Mongoose. _________________

Does anyone have any good images for painted-up versions of the Starline 2500 Hawk-series ships?
Specifically, I was wondering about the SparrowHawk, FireHawk, RoyalHawk and/or FastHawk; I haven't seen too many people posting images of those so far. _________________ FC Omega Conversion Project:

Here's my first try at a Gorn. I selected a flat black hull because frankly, having several fleets in different shades of grey was getting BORING. Klingons, grey-blue, Romulans, light grey. Gorns are "supposed" to be a dark grey, and it looked okay, but I wanted to have more table-top appeal.
The engine "glow" was particularly tricky to figure out, but I think the effect works. The black hull is slightly darker than the pictures show; I was trying to enhance the engine glow and other details by over-exposing the picture a bit.
In the original Dark Grey that I decided was too boring. The mini is incomplete at this point; I was trying to see how the hull color contrasted with the engine detailing.
Any suggestions? |

Very nice! I'd mentioned trying a pale yellow dry brush for the engine glow before, just restateing it for compleatness.
Are you going to color the shuttle landing pads and tracks? I usually see them in red or deep orange. _________________ Friendly Fire Isn't.

Here's the new pics, version 2 with a few changes, specifically the raised areas drybrushed with a lighter black shade, the shuttlebay launch rails and pads are done now.
I did the scales in a metallic color. In my ACTA:SF universe, the scales are pre-War design phased array shield generators, which gradually got phased out (though not totally as a powerful Gorn lobbyist for the shield generator maunfacturer got the procurement officials to continue using his product in the name of economy and efficiency, over this new-fangled design that costs more)
Wouldn't you know it, a cat hair appeared in the first picture. At least it isn't embedded in the paint this time.
I've not finalized the concept, though the main details - hull color and engines are pretty close to final. I am going to do make the green slightly lighter and perhaps try the yellow tinge to the engines.
Some of the other details like the impulse engines, I decided to leave black; I haven't found a color that I like. The usual red or orange just doesn't look right to me, and I want to avoid the very bright colors that some are using on their minis. While they look great on the game table, I don't know, they just scream "Warhammer" to me at times. |
