Is there a direct way to find out which mini's have lead?

Am I to understand that if the description in the cart or on the box doesn't say lead free pewter it has lead?

Thanks

Monty

None of the modern casting are allowed to have lead in them,(mores the pity),even though lead gives a sharper looking casting. There is nothing to stop you from casting your own personal models in lead, but in order to sell to the public,it has to be pewter.

I think that all the lead ones were the 2200 and 2300 minis, which have beem OOP for a long time now.

It varies.

I don't think Bruce uses any lead.

For some time, Reaper did some of our contract casting and they used a formula that had a very small percentage of lead (1% or 2%, I forget) which actually passed the "lead free" limits in New York. We might in theory still have a few of those around but I doubt it.

For example, the Gorn Battleship description states "Cast in P65 (lead-tin) alloy".

I guess I'm trying to understand this a little more: http://www.reapermini.com/P-65 which states P65 is 60/40 lead to tin.

Thanks

No what it states is it is a Lead Alloy with properties similar to a 60/40 lead/tin mix.

P65 does contain a small amounts of lead but iirc it is mostly bismuth with just enough lead and tin to help it hold detail. I believe it was designed to meet California previous Lead Standards. Since then they became much stricter trying to classify wargame minis as childrens toys thus all the marking on the Packaging that it is for Adult use.

Monty found this on Reapers Forums for you.

To our valued customers,

Effective immediately, we are ceasing production of our P-65 Heavy Metal Miniatures line.

The incredible success of our Dark Heaven: Bones miniatures line has given us the opportunity to produce more affordable gaming and hobby options for the miniatures hobby. While P-65 was very successful for us, we have decided not to invest any further into P-65 Heavy Metal products and rather invest those dollars into Bones.

We are currently filling all orders with the existing inventory we have on hand, but we will not be casting any more P-65 products to fill these orders.

As of February 4th we will no longer accept any future P-65 order requests.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Thank you!
