If you haven't seen it already, the Fire in the Deep short piece in Captain's Log #41 (set on the Seltorian Hive Ship Star of Redemption) is written with the assumption that the opposing ships are Juggernauts. (Those units are listed with Latin designations instead of Greek ones; with Juggernaut Primus, Juggernaut Secundus, and so on.)
Officially, the SFB scenario tied to the story is a simulator exercise, and says that the true identity of the units which the Star fought on the way to its target galaxy is unknown. But even so, who (aside from ADB themsleves) is to say they weren't Juggernauts after all? |
Thank you, that is one CL I still need to get. Just as with Alpha, Beta, Gamma etc I like the Primus angle as well.
Seems like it would be a good menace for X ships at some point. Imagine an X-Juggernaut! _________________ My other car is a D7 BattleCruiser. |

Hey, ya never know
The Beta was somewhat improved over Alpha, since Alpha had transmitted data back to him. It would follow that Gamma would be more knowledgeable and 'experienced' than its two predecessors as well. And perhaps even more technologically advanced in some new terrifying way.
Particularly if it comes in at a different point in the Alpha Octant. Perhaps the Feds & Klinks let the other races know about Alpha and Beta (since it would serve to protect each of them as well in case someone else had to fight one on its way to the Federation or Empire. Better to have them destroy it in THEIR space rather than having to deal with it again). But if it did come in someplace else, say the Roms, and say it is a better version, you now have the dynamic of, "hey wait! the Feds never said it could do THAT!"
Just tossing it out there. _________________ My other car is a D7 BattleCruiser. |

In Fire in the Deep, the first opposing unit (Juggernaut Primus) seems to have been a "standard" unit, like Alpha; i.e. with no Shrieks. Secundus, the next one to be encountered, was reported as launching a handful of seeking weapons (i.e. Shrieks), akin to Beta. Tertius, the third encountered, may have been one of the missile dreadnoughts also published in CL41; with its cargo bays ripped out to make room for Shriek missile silos. (The story doesn't say this outright, but notes how the third ship had even more missiles relative to Secundus.)
If the progression faced by the Star of Redemption is anything to go by (and it may well not be), perhaps Gamma might also be a DNM.
Or, perhaps, it might be something new entirely. _________________ FC Omega Discussion (v3)

That's great....that's just great, now I had to go and get CL#41 because you piqued my curiosity. Thanks a lot pal
Well, that leaves me about 9 short I think from having them all. Looking forward to getting it. Thanks for the tip. _________________ My other car is a D7 BattleCruiser. |

For me, it was the ships, including the juggernaut. In all early CL's, for me it was the new ships.
It was always a blast to use the Juggernaut as one's ship in any other SM_._ scenario... |
