Well, don't get too excited yet. First, Steve has to review, potentially modify, and accept the rules. Then he has to build the ship card. Then he has to schedule which Communique it goes into. So, it could still take a while for an FRD to show up. _________________

I would like to see the Wyn Orion-built ships. The Orion ship cards could be used as a base with the appropriate weapon changes in the mounts. This would make the Wyn Orions tourney legal. These could be offered on E23.

Ok, you're not talking about fish ships, but about Orion ships in WYN service, right? _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Yes, Nicole is talking about Orion ships used by the WYN.
Really, the actual ship itself doesn't change. However, the ship card would change:
- Weapons selection options change. (E.g. plasma and photon arming tracks go away; need to add an ESG track.)
- Need note saying weapons limited by the combination of (5L1) and (5L8).
- Need note saying ships cannot double engines, but do get stealth bonus.
Only really need three ships: LR, CR, and BR.
On the plus side for them, they are ships that are allowed to leave the cluster, so they can always be used for Battleforces and such. On the negative side, they are all severely underpowered designs that will have trouble making use of very many disruptors. Even so, they still provide another option for the tiny WYN navy. _________________

Another off-beat idea for something in Communique: a planet-based Base Station or Battlestation. The Federation commander rules do not support putting a large base on a planet's surface, because it is missing all of the rules on how to make the conversion. Fortunately, in Federation Commander, this is easy to fix: just make a new ship card with the correct arcs and such. _________________

How does a Kzinti Battle Frigate and Heavy Frigate compare to the FFK? _________________ Speed is life; Patience is victory

I don't recall about the Kzinti heavy frigate.
The Kzinti FFB battle frigate comes from the same general mold as the Fed FFB, the Klingon F-6, and the Romulan JayHawk.
It takes the basic FF hull, adds a module across the top to add room for more systems, and adds a fourth engine. In exterior hull changes, it is very much a miniature version of the changes made to make the NCA from the CM.
Some pictures of my Starline 2400 kitbashed mini, under-construction are HERE. _________________
