I have a few question about the 2500 line of minis. So the first on is, why does it say "sold as is" for the resin minis? is there some risk in buying them?
moving onto my other question about the line. Has development stopped? I came a cross a few pics of some tholian renderings that was trademark stamped by mongoose circa 2014 and can't find any more info about it.
here is where i saw them http://www.starfleetgames.com/discus/messages/32784/33674.html?1403067941 |

Originally, Mongoose Publishing was going to design / model all the minis in 3D-CAD and then produce them. For reasons not worth going into here, plans changed. Mongoose still (I believe) has a hand in the design phase but not the production phase. _________________ Garth L. Getgen

The last batch of 2500 releases did not sell many ships and we lost money. We're thinking about ways to make the line more worthwhile for everyone.
The Tholian ships came in way the heck too big and had to be discarded and done over, and given the sales of the Orion ships were single digits, nobody wanted to invest time or money in Tholians. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

The 'sold as is' verbiage is to forewarn the consumer that these miniatures are sold unpainted, and in the case of multi-part models - unassembled as well.
With the positive glut of plastic, pre-painted minis for X-Wing, Armada, Attack Wing, etc... and the quite nice photos of fully assembled / pained Starline miniatures on the shopping cart - ADB wanted to ensure that no one purchased minis with out know what they were getting. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

More specifically, the resin ships have small flaws that have to be fillled in, but we have very few in stock and none better than what we send. Most people (well, those who know the history) understand this, some do not. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Oops. I didn't even read the word resin... it's been so long since I saw a resin Starline mini. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

Would you be willing to sell the 3d model files of the ships that were designed but never published, like you do the pdf's, for those of us interested in 3d printing our own models? |

My wife is already in panic mode at the thought of this...
First I'd have to buy all the files...
Then i'd have to buy a new printer (or two)...
them the cost of the resin...
I'm thinking a new car might be cheaper... _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

New car? You'd need a new house, because your soon-to-be ex-wife would get the old house if you go down that road. _________________ Garth L. Getgen

Doesn't Mongoose hold the rights to the 2500s?
I know ADB took control of production but Mongooses
Tech did the modelling. |

Yes. Mongoose Publishing owns the rights to the 3D models...
But its still fun to think about...
At least as far as I know. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro
