The rules state:
Quote: | (3G2b) Burn Through: As with shields, if a given
volley scores ten or more points of damage, one of
these points is not absorbed by the power absorber
bank but is instead distributed by the Damage Alloca-
tion Chart as internal damage. If the volley includes
damage caused by disruptors, then every tenth dam-
age point of the volley |
Why are disruptors specifically mentioned here? Isn't that the same thing as what is described above? |

The difference is that if the volley does not contain damage from disruptors, then no matter how large the volley is, if it has at least 10 points, only one point of burn-through is inflicted. But, if the volley does contain damage from disruptors, then there is one point of burn-through for every 10 points of damage.
Example:
Volley of 32 points of damage, none from disruptors, against a 4 panel PA bank: 1 point of burn-through; 31 points of damage absorbed by the PA panels.
Volley of 32 points of damage, including some from disruptors, against a 4 panel PA bank: 3 points of burn-through; 29 points of damage absorbed by the PA panels. _________________

Does the same apply to shields? |

Don't worry about it - I just looked it up, I've been doing it wrong, all this time. I was thinking of the old "leaky shields" option in SFB, I guess. Oh well! |

Yeah, that one gets a lot of people.
But, yes, the "disruptor" exception only applies to Power Absorber panels. The base "burn-through" works on both shields and PA panels. _________________

The disruptor versus PA panel was recommended by the members of BGM during initial play testing of Andromedans in FC.
We found that Photons and Plasmas generated enough damage in a single hit to overload and collapse a PA panel. As did PPDs, fusion, and Hellbores.
Klingon disruptors on the other hand could not. They can fire every turn, but the Andros can dissipate every turn, as well. Without the ability to crush a PA panel, the Klingons (and by extension any other disruptor armed ship) would be unable to stand up to an equal fleet of Andromedans.
This rule is an attempt to equalize the match-ups between those units. _________________ Commander, Battlegroup Murfreesboro

The same rule was in SFB (years earlier) for the same reason. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander
