|
|
Dear Friends,
I always loved the system icons used for SF Battle Force cards. What about producing a "new look" series of FC Ship Cards (and even SFB SSDs) using SFBF icons in lieu of the usual boxes ? Since this would involve intellectual property all within the ADB corral, there should be no legal problems.
If ADB itself would not be keen on this, what about this being a sanctioned fan activity ? What I would request is if ADB could post a jpg/gif/bmp format page of all SFBF icons, in b/w and color, to facilitate production.
Thanks !

I have no idea what you're trying to say and would suggest you try again after July 5th. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

If you use the SFBF icons to replace the boxes, you need bigger cards for the ships. Everything above the smallest ships would only be workable on 8.5 x 11 sheets, and the big ships, 11 x 17. |

Oh, I get it. Well, you couldn't do it unless you made the icons the size of the boxes. I'm not sure that would be any more functional. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Well, it's more of an aesthetic thing than functional. It's just that the Battleforce system icons are so damn cool !!! |

It is a functionality thing. An empty square box is easy to mark with a wipe=off marker. An "icon" isn't so functional. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

Well, what I had in mind was a sort of compromise between beauty and functionality - placement of small icons, with small boxes beneath them for marking as per usual practice. |

So you need a word (photon) a box (empty) AND an icon?
I don't think that's a good way to go. _________________ The Guy Who Designed Fed Commander

I think he's just looking for pretty; it's not a question of need. It would add a tiny amount of functionality; the human eye would probably spot a little picture faster than a little word.
It's kind of like how the boxes being colored in FC helps you find things faster than in SFB. On the old black and white SFB SSDs sometimes finding my EMER box could take a while on a very large ship I wasn't used to flying heh...
Personally the coloring is enough for me. The icons would have to be made so small to fit on the SSD that I doubt you'd see any of the neat graphics anyhow. |
