The main idea behind overloading during energy allocation is one of commitment. Many strategies work around the idea that one is going to slowly tempt the target into using energy so that at the moment of decision the target is short or out of power. As a Fed player I can commit to that energy at the beginning of the turn and in that way I can’t be tricked into using it for something else. While this would seem to be tipping ones hand you also have to remember that now the other guy knows that those tubes are hot and ready to blow their doors off. Some times this may be exactly what you want. Most battles are one by the side that forces the other guys to respond to them, there by breaking their plan. |
