I note that in Orion Attack we have a neat little rules change (5L3) that allows us to double as many or as few of the warp engines on certain Orion ships as we want.
IIRC, the original rule in the Rulebook 4 was that you had to double all or nothing - the new rule is most welcome as it gives flexibility at a low cost in complexity. Good decision. I see that it's in the CRUL.
I just wanted to clarify three things:
1: I assume that if a ship performs any engine doubling at all, it loses its stealth bonus, even if it does not double all of the engines;
2: I also assume that each doubled engine loses one box at the end of the turn [Squadron scale] [except the SLV, LR and DBR];
3: The SLV, LR and DBR only lose one box in total [Sqn scale; Warp Det box if Flt scale] even if they double all their engines, and as they lose the stealth bonus anyway then they have nothing else to lose by doubling all the engines. In fact the way I read it, the smaller ships do not have the option to double selectively as the bigger ships do.
Also the other, bigger ships lose only one box anyway in Flt scale so again they have nothing further to lose by doubling everything.
Do I have this all correct? _________________
