I have recently ordered (and expect today) the Academy set. Since it includes a Roluman ship, I am assuming that the rules set will address cloaks and plasma torpedos. If I am wrong, which set will I need? I am not really interested in a million warships, and prefer the TOS setting, so what do I really need?

Rocky the new guy to the game...

Hi Rocky and welcome to the game!

The complete rulebook in the product should indeed include the rules for plasma torpedoes and cloaking devices.

Any rules questions you have at any time will be answered quickly by the excellent team here on the forum.

Enjoy your game!

I do so much look forward to it, as does my son.

He is far too young to remember TOS or SFB (original edition) but I am not!

Thanks for the quick response.

R.J., welcome to the forum! I hope you'll have lots of fun with Federation Commander. I, too, prefer the TOS era. They are supposed to be coming out with the ship card diagrams for that era (Middle Years is what it's called) soon.

Let me put in a plug here for these wonderful rules! They are clean, clear, well presented, and quite representative of the Star Trek universe. They are detailed enough to be interesting and challenging, but not get bogged down either in difficult mechanics or 90 exceptional cases.

Add that the ADB models are detailed, beautiful, a managable scale, inexpensive, and easy to assemble, and it all wonderful.

Bravo!

Just to check, it is the full rulebook you get in Academy, isn't it? So you have the plasma and cloak rules, right?
